Check to ensure you’re getting your Bilt points

I just wanted to put out a note to double check you are earning BILT points from your mortgage / rent payments.

I have it setup on my lender side to autopay using BILT and I had checked the use BILT cash option. I’ve had no issues since getting the card (back in February). For some reason this most recent mortgage payment it DID NOT use any of my BILT cash. Luckily, support was very helpful and retroactively gave me the points and deducted the cash. I checked to validate the use BILT cash toggle was on and it was turned off. I never changed anything on my side so this was completely random.

Long story short - make sure you’re getting your points the last few months of the year!!

Orbi app not connecting to my system

I have the Orbi RBRE950 with 2 satellites. Everything was working fine but now all of a sudden my app will not connect to my system. I’ve tried unplugging and plugging the router back in, trying different options in the app, nothing works.

Is my only option to do a hard reset? Is this a common issue or is this something bigger?

My system itself is working fine, no internet problems.

Orbi mesh giving dead spots in 4-story townhouse - worth switching to UniFi?

I have a 4-story townhouse, Verizon FiOS 2Gbps. Orbi RBRE950 router on floor 1, hardwired satellite on floor 4, wireless-only satellite on floor 3 (our home offices are on this floor). Getting random dead spots/drops, mainly on floor 3. Also having random situations where I need to reset the router or can’t connect to the Orbi app (more annoying things).

I'm not staying long-term in the townhouse, so I don't want to run extra Ethernet beyond the 2 ports (floor 2 & floor 4) that already exist. Considering switching to UniFi (gateway + 3 APs, wireless mesh only on floor 3). I already run UniFi Protect for 2 cameras, so not totally new to the ecosystem.

Questions:

  1. Would UniFi actually fix this, or is there a simpler fix first?
  2. For the wireless-only floor, does a tri-band AP (dedicated backhaul) actually matter in a home setup, or is that overkill?
  3. Worth buying nicer gear now to bring to my next house eventually, or overthinking it? What is ACTUALLY worth the upgrade for a home setup (with 2 people working from home + plenty of devices)
  4. What specific products would you recommend?

I’d say I’m technologically experienced but also don’t want to make this a part time job - I do enjoy the “plug and play” style of Orbi but getting frustrated with it.

Appreciate any real experience, especially from multi-story homes with similar wiring constraints. Thanks!

Personal Trainer recs for 30s?

I’m in my 30s and looking to lose 10-15 lbs and get better with my diet.

Does anyone recommend any personal trainer / small group personal trainer type environments? I’m someone who has been going to the gym 5-6 days, primarily strength training, a week but definitely need some new workouts / routines. I also need help building a nutrition play and staying accountable.

Used to be more in shape in college / 20s then just fell off a bit but want to focus on this.

Any recommendations? A lot of trainers I saw in WC called out targeting beginners or 40+.

Wife and I are doing 15 nights in Japan (end of March/early April). First time to Japan for both of us and we’re in early planning mode. Would love honest feedback on our night breakdown and some help settling a hotel debate. Here’s what we’re working with:

The breakdown:
• Tokyo (arrival) — 3 nights
• Kyoto — 5 nights
• Osaka — 3 nights (originally had 4 here + 3 back in Tokyo but swapped based on advice in this sub)
• Tokyo (round 2) — 4 nights

The vibe: We want to eat our way through all three cities, hit the major sights, and do some day trips out of Kyoto and Osaka. We’re not backpackers and we lean toward higher end / good value hotels but location is king for us.

For our Tokyo return at the end (4 nights), I’m leaning toward splitting it like this:
• 2–3 nights at Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills
• 1–2 nights at Park Hyatt Tokyo (yes, that one)
Is this worth doing? Should I just stay put at the Andaz the whole time? Is the Park Hyatt still worth it?

Specific questions I’d love input on:

  1. Does the night breakdown make sense for a first-timer wanting to maximize Tokyo without neglecting Kyoto/Osaka?
  2. Is Andaz Toranomon Hills a solid home base for Tokyo round 2, or is there somewhere better for the area?
  3. Split the Park Hyatt stay or skip it? If you’d do it, would you recommend 1 night or 2?
  4. Any hotel recs for Kyoto or Osaka? We’re open and heard Kyoto options are a bit easier to come by.

Thanks in advance!
