Taking a gap year should I open a savings account or get a safe?

I’m 17f turning 18 later this year, and taking a gap year to work. I got a well paying job with a guaranteed 30 hours a week. I get payed biweekly. As of now I’m not sure how much I’m gonna get payed my next paycheck due to the fact I’m not sure how much I worked for my first check (it was $700 but that’s my first check and I worked little hours). It’s a tipping job and I get a lot of good tips.

I’m getting slightly off topic but I’m not good at keeping track of my money and end up spending about half the first week so my parents wanted me to give them 75% of it to them so they can keep it in a safe. I told them I’d think about it (whether to keep it in a safe or a savings account (hysa)) my dad told me he doesn’t trust banks and doubts I’d see any growth in a year but I’d lowk just keep adding on so it’s not like imma be taking all the money out. Idk if this is making sense. I’m about to shower but imma research later just wanted to see if anyone had any tips on the matter. Thanks.

any morning qa tips?

I started out as qa (which I learned was odd due to me knowing next to nothing abt the menu) I do well in rushes at 4pm when we have a togo and 2 food runners but I tried working a Monday morning shift with one qa (my previous trainer) and holy hell it went so bad.

I hadn’t worked a full morning qa shift aside from when I was trained by my other trainer who was sweet and understanding to my mistakes. I’m not even a full month in btw but the food runners I was w was so rude whenever I asked a question and started pressuring me when there was no reason to. It was my first time having to handle togo and qa so I struggled so badly and she was so condescending in her talk like I didn’t feel guilty enough.

I didn’t even get any pointers which I guess i must’ve irritated her a lot but I didn’t even make mistakes it was just me taking a while with getting togo out while balancing qa.

So I’m here to ask the subreddit for some pointers since I work qa tomorrow again. Pls help. Idk how to efficiently work qa and togo in a way to save time while not annoying my food runners.

EDIT: also I’m not sure how to run to-go aside from the obvious where I put the order together and hand it out. Idk if you get trained for that or smth but I have no clue how to use the machine and my food runner didn’t either so we had to call a manager every time….. I’m a mess by lesserafim

tips for food running?

I started a month ago and I’ve been trained as qa but they often have me food running since the schedule is lowk a mess. I’m not trained on it, not sure that there’s much needed but I’ve tried it and it’s okay but I do have to set the tray down to hand the stuff out.

Honestly Im able to keep busy and do a lot of stuff like dish running and restocking and I help w soups when it’s busy but I’m more worried abt the tray thing.

I usually get stuck w the same qa and she can get agitated easily esp when I struggle to take fajitas and a full tray and I feel really bad. Like I can tell it annoys her (and she makes it blatantly obvious) when I can’t take a tray and a plate. I hate feeling useless so I need some tips. Imma try practicing my next shift see what’s up but anything helps!!

tips for new QA (third day training going to fourth)

i just went in for my third shift today and it was 4-8 which was easing me in tbh cuz my last two were morning shifts so pretty calm.

my trainers previously had me shadow but since it wasn’t busy I wouldn’t do too much hands on. Today I was more hands on and my trainer let me try to handle it but lowk I haven’t been studying and I’m not a chilishead at all so I don’t know my sauces or colors for like to differentiate. Def gon try studying.

I just want to know some tips that make it easy cuz honestly during the rush my trainer had to step up and help cuz I wasn’t sure what I was doing half the time and they started getting obv frustrated and I felt like dead weight. The food runners started helping since they are trained on qa but It was just a mess so I tried going on fry duty only while also tumbling dessert and salad bar but I felt sooo in the way.

I start at 5 tmrw but I’m so nervous, esp since I felt so bad for my trainer since they said they don’t train a lot. :(( anything helps plsssss

Only got one item?

I ordered June 15th and got 5 items. I got the tracking link and only today was trying the bolt app cuz the 18th I got one item in the mail after saying I got it delivered. I even got a receipt saying delivered 1 item.

Back to the bolt app, I tried the tracking number from my og receipt (not the delivered one I got the 18th) and it’s saying delivered without giving additional details??? I only got one thing and I’m not being given any additional details??? WTH.
