Quickjack justification
Wife pulled her usual, ran something over, and destroyed a tire. Funny is, she already had four plugs in that tire. This is on our 24 so two year old tire with 48k; the set was down to 4/32, so we needed a new tire before rain season. Did the research and the best all-season, non-winter tire: 1. Pirelli Scorpion 2. Bridgestone Alenza Prestige 3. Michelin LTX. Sam's Club was running special Pirelli Scorpions at $1k out the door; every other shop was $1,500 to $1,600 for Pirelli Scorpions. Costco was $1,400 for Bridgestone and $1,500 for Michelin—so the obvious winner: Sam's Club, $400 to $ 600 cheaper and the best tire. Here's the kicker: I bought tires online, set an appointment, and got a call that their big lift is broken, so they can't lift any trucks, but I didn't want my wife traveling on a spare with no spare for much longer. Lucky for me, I bought a Quick Jack 8000 TLX on impulse to service my C8 in March, but haven't used it yet. So I told them I'll bring tires in. But the best part: I showed my wife how my 2k impulse buy just saved her 500 bucks. As a man with too many toys, I feel vindicated, especially since it was my wife's Expedition that needed it. Now I just got to do 1500 worth of work on something to justify this purchase. On a side note, funny how Sam's built floor lift wouldn't lift an Expedition; according to them, they have to use the huge post lift, but my little portable quickjacks lift it with no issue.
