My cat is obsessed with trying to climb on a specific piece of furniture, but it's unsafe and idk how to discourage him

So one of my cats has recently become OBSESSED with getting on top of my bathroom cabinet, as well as a small shelf connected to it which contains some light fixtures for the sink.

I understand he wants/needs to be on high places, and he has access to plenty of those in every other room of the house. However this spot in particular is dangerous for a few reasons: the shelf is very narrow so he cannot turn around on it and has already fallen off once while trying to do it, there are electrical cables for the lights above the shelf which cannot be moved or protected, and that spot gives him access to the top of the door and he has hurt his paw by jumping on it and causing it to close.

I considered placing a shelf right above that spot so he could hang out there, but it would not solve the door issue. I have also considered putting a cat tree somewhere in the room, but the room is small and he would surely be able to jump up there from the tree. So for now I have stacked that area with baskets and full bags of litter to make it look crowded, but he keeps looking up there and crying and I am afraid he will try to jump up anyway sooner or later and hurt himself if he fails.

What can I do to make this whole situation safer?

My cat only wants cuddles in the most inconvenient spots possible

I am typing this from my kitchen floor, where I am cuddling my cat per her request.

Every day, multiple times a day, she meows and meows and meows until I go with her to one of her two designated cuddle spots: the kitchen floor or the bathroom sink. She lies there, rolls around and purrs and is only satisfied when I pet her.

Now, I will happily provide as many cuddles as she desires, wherever she desires, but WHY won't she cuddle me on the bed or couch instead? How do I convince her that it is much more comfy there? She sleeps there all the time so she likes those spots, but for some reason she does not deem them suitable for cuddling. My butt hurts from sitting on cold hard tiles. Help??

How concerned should I be about redirected aggression

I am in the process of turning my 2nd floor apartment's balcony into a sort of catio by making it safe for my cats with front to ceiling nets. However today I remembered that from my balcony you can sometimes see a cat roam on his own balcony or in the small courtyard attached, about 30-50 yards from my building. How concerned should I be about my cats seeing him and experiencing redirected aggression against each other? I've read about it on here and it really scares me.

My cat goes to suck on his blanket every time i cuddle him

My cat (1 year old neutered male) has always been obsessed with sucking on stuff. I adopted him and his sister at 7 weeks old (very young, but their litter was found without a mom) and even on the first night with me he climbed on my lap and sucked on my shirt. Over time, he stopped sucking on me and became obsessed with my sherpa blanket which is now officially his. I know this is probably largely due to the young age he was separated from his mom. His sister doesn't do this, but she does have separation anxiety from me.

The "problem" (or rather, what I wonder if it is a problem) is that every time he is feeling content/cuddly he heads straight to his blanket to suck. If i pet him, or if he rubs on me and i cuddle him a little, basically every affectionate interaction we have, as soon as he starts purring he leaves and goes to the blanket. I am a little sad that i get way less cuddles due to this LOL but this is not the main issue. My main question is, is this normal? I know many cats do this but to this extent? This happens 2-5x per day, every day. Can it ever be too much or signal some sort of underlying problem/distress? Or can it CAUSE a problem?

Also, I really need to wash the blanket regularly. But he doesn't suck on anything else, and every time I wash it, when he can't find it he seems upset. He eventually cuddles me instead (yay) but yeah, I don't like doing that to him hence why I haven't taken away the blanket although it's getting kind of gross now even with regular washes.

I know the obvious answer might be "ask a vet" but he is very healthy luckily and his regular check up isn't due for another 3 months so I thought I'd ask here.

▲ 2 r/Gatti

Sto chiedendo dei preventivi a diverse ditte per l'installazione di reti a tutta altezza per il balcone, per la sicurezza dei miei gatti.

Voi le avete? Come vi trovate? Vi sentite sicuri a lasciar stare i gatti sul balcone?

This is how my cat sleeps almost every day 😅

Is he just a little weirdo? Is there a reason? I find it so funny but also I've never seen another cat sleep like this!

This makes me pretty sad and I wonder if anyone has any solutions I could try.

I have two 1 year old cats, littermates, a boy and a girl. They get along very well, play and sleep together. I live with my parents as I am attending the last year of med school in my city.

Lately my girl has started meowing A LOT whenever we are in two different rooms. She just sits and meows until she reunites with me. If i call her, she runs to me and purrs and rubs on my legs. If I go to her, same thing. I didn't think much of this at first, I thought she wanted attention and I was happy to give it to her.

However my parents are now telling me that she meows and looks for me frantically when I leave the house and leave the cats with them. She settles after a while but initially she seems pretty distraught. As for when the cats are home alone, I have set up a camera and she seems just fine, oddly enough. I think she differentiates between "humans here" and "humans not here" and she does not like humans being there without me.

I am worried that this is evolving to some sort of separation anxiety and that it will get worse, and I really don't want that for her sake. When I start residency I will be out of the house for 12+ hours at a time and I cannot have her stressed all the time. What can I do to make her more comfortable with my absence?
