Highly Suspicious Colt XM16E1 Retro Reissue (Be Careful)

Saw this listing on GB, 90% sure this is from someone who bought a generic blank M16/M4 lower and engraved it with Colt to fake a Colt Retro Reissue series. A few points to make about the retro reissue:

Rampant

  1. Pony must be completely encircled, which is not this case.

  2. Laser engraving is too deep, words too crowded, font looks weird, unlike authentic Colt rollmarks

  3. Serial always ends with V to distinguish it from serviced machine gun counterparts

  4. Select fire lacks semi here

  5. This lower receiver is the M16/M4 receiver, not A1, the way to tell is the very thick waistband just behind the selector compared to a thin vertical waistband in A1.

  6. Lack of a white DoD eagle stamp underneath the trapdoor.

  7. They never used a duckbill flash hider for XM16E1

I have a attached a 3 photos of my Colt XM16E1 for comparison

Mosin Nagant M1891/30 PU Snipers Collection (+Bonus)

  1. Izhevsk’43 Sniper + 1942 Pritsel Ukorochenny scope, serial with Cyrillic prefix all matching, RGuns import

  2. Tula’44 Sniper + 1941 Pritsel Ukorochenny scope, serial with Cyrillic prefix all matching, RGuns import

  3. Izhevsk’43 Sniper + 1940 original SVT-40 Pritsel Ukorochenny scope : RGuns import, all #'s matching with prefixes. It still has it's soviet arsenal seal on the scope. Never fired from import. The PU scope is a 1st year Progress SVT40 scope.  1940 and one of the earliest SVT40 scopes ever made, add to that the scope has an ultra rare metal mix that is oxidized to plum, in regular light it's normal  soviet blueing. When you shine a flashlight at it it glows purple! Perfect arsenal PU with a crazy rare SVT scope that color changes. Extremely rare.

  4. Bonus: Remington M1891 contracted by Imperial Russia that never got sent it over as Bolsheviks started to take over, so US. Govt liquidated the remaining M91 by purchasing them from Remington and Westinghouse, only about 80,000 in number in total, to be used within US Army:
-On the barrel shank; the Imperial Eagle stamp with the Cyrillic P (П) is the mark of the Imperial Russia Acceptance Commission. U.S. Flaming Bomb and Eagle Head stamp on the underside of the stock in front of the magazine are the marks signifying this Remington M91 was purchased by the U.S. Government.

Another Lucky Yard Sale Find: Colt XM16E1

Found my second Colt XM16E1 that will be added to my collection from a local sale. Looks very minty both cosmetic and bore. Paid 1800. think these limited productions are going nuts on price online.

7/30 CMP North Store Update:

Absolutely has nothing collectible at the moment. Most M1 Garands are expert grade (same price as if you order online but no wait if come in person), zero service grade (all sold out yesterday, store staff said won’t be anymore until probably a couple months from now), 4 IHC rack grade (absolutely horrendously bad, beat up cosmetically, muzzle reading all 7+ lol), 0 field grade (don’t recommend anyway).

3 M1D ($1750 per piece w/o mount and scope, muzzle reading all 5+, all look like put together by CMP, stock has no cartouche, handguard has slightly different colors)

1 M1C with non-matching original base ($2450, muzzle reading 7+, stock has no cartouche, also looks like a CMP put together)
—-Funny thing: there is a CMP made M1C sitting in the glass show table with reproduction M82 scope selling for 4k 😂

All 1903a3 are expert grade.

Several field grade M1917.

All slings are reproduction $40/piece, some leftover unmarked(no cartouche) USGI surplus stock $35/piece

So, unless you want an excellent shooter (expert grade), absolutely not worth the trip here if you are a collector. Service grade is probably only widely available through their online auction.

First Direct CMP Purchase

Own a couple of M1D and 1903A4, never really bought directly through CMP. Ordered this M1 Garand last month got an email with link to payment last week, then shipped out this week overnight. Turnaround time around 4 weeks, not like what many people claimed to be 4-8 months…

Did not expect it to be hugged by such a nice proprietary case from CMP. Really solid deal.

CMP North Store Question

Anyone been to CMP north store recently know if they have any M1C, M1D in stock with complete scope? Their phone number is just a hot mess lol. I’m from Indiana so will take me a few hours to get there. Hate to make it out there and found nothing.

Thanks

M1C Sniper Price Check

Found this Postwar rebuilt M1C from a LGS and the seller bought it through CMP, completed with an authentic USGI contracted Lyman B series scope. Price is 5k including all the CMP, GCA paperwork and a hard case. I made a reservation on this listing and will be able to change my mind/make offers in the next 7 days. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Any thoughts on this piece?

Got it for 2.1k. Seems like a Colt Retro Reissue Series. Unsure how many were made. I already have a couple of their M16A1 and XM177E2, didn’t know they also made XM16E1 as well.
