Why is gmail rejecting my email?

I use Polarismail and am having a problem with aliases.

Sometimes when an alias to gmail is used for purely legitimate reasons (zero percent chance the emails could be mistaken for spam) gmail rejects the email. This is what the failure email says:

>Remote host said:
550-5.7.1 Gmail has detected that this message is likely
550-5.7.1 unsolicited mail. To reduce the amount of spam sent to Gmail, this
550-5.7.1 message has been blocked. For more information, go to
550 5.7.1 https://support.google.com/mail/?p=UnsolicitedMessageError586e51a60fabf-4632aed7781si4017481fac.318 - gsmtp

And sometimes delivery fails without even getting a failure notification so I have no way to know the recipient didn't get the email.

Can anyone shed some light on what might cause this and how to fix it?

I asked AI and posted the response below.

Nothing I can do about Polarismail IP/Domain reputation issues. Is Polarismail shady enough to result in emails being bounced?

According to Polarismail SPF/DKIM/DMARC are all correct. My DNS settings are correct according to their support docs. But how can I ensure everything is set up correctly on their end?

Anything else I can do to stop this from happening? Is switching email providers going to help or is this inevitable when using aliases? HELP!

Missing or Misconfigured Email Authentication (Most Common)

If you are sending from a custom domain (e.g., you@yourbusiness.com), Gmail strictly requires standard security records to verify your identity:

  • SPF (Sender Policy Framework): Proves your email server is authorized to send on behalf of your domain.
  • DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail): Adds a cryptographic signature proving the email wasn't tampered with in transit.
  • DMARC: Instructs receiving servers on how to handle emails that fail SPF/DKIM checks.

If these DNS records are missing or incorrect, Gmail will flag your message as potential spam or impersonation.

IP or Domain Reputation Issues

  • Shared Server IP: If you are using a shared hosting provider or an email service provider (like Mailchimp or standard web hosting), another user on that same server IP may have sent spam, causing the entire IP address to be temporarily blacklisted by Google.
  • New Domain: Newly registered domains sending bulk or cold emails often lack sender reputation and trigger default spam blocks.

Using Canon color laser printer with ARM

I have a Canon MF656Cdw printer that makes me regret buying an ARM computer.

I originally had the printer set up in a way that all the features worked correctly, namely, I could select duplex printing and color/b&w printing for each print job. But whenever I would try to print something, there was a horrible lag before I could print. And depending on CPU usage, there were times that it would just fail.

I did a bunch of troubleshooting and got it to where the print dialog box comes up immediately. However, if I change the duplex mode or color/b&w mode, my selections are ignored and the printer uses the default setting.

Don't ask me how it was before or what I changed it to. I did many things to get here and I couldn't tell you what I did. I've also gone in a hundred circles using chatgpt/gemini to make this work but it never results in a solution that works.

Does anyone have some advice for me?

Would you send this back for replacement?

I just bought a SLGW007 and it looked good out of the box. Then I looked it over with a loupe and found two blemishes on the zaratsu polish. Now that I know they are there, I can see them without the loupe if I look carefully.

I know some people say that no watch is perfect and if you look closely enough you will always find something wrong. But we're talking about GS zaratsu polishing here. This is supposed to be the pinnacle. Should I accept these scratches that are barely perceptible? Or should I send it back?

The third picture is there for scale, showing the area where the blemishes are, the entire circled area does not have scratches.

I got a good deal on it and they have another one they can exchange it with, so I won't lose the deal. Would you exchange this watch? My concern is that the other one may not be perfect either, and might possibly be more imperfect.

After some wrist time, it's probably likely to get some light scratches like this anyway. But as expensive as this is, should I expect it to be in mint condition on day 1?

UPDATE: I talked to the AD today and he was super cool about doing the exchange if I really want to, he said he understood wanting it to be unblemished.

He said he can't take any more off the price, but he can give me a $200 store credit. I'm going to ask him to split the difference with me because hipping this watch back and forth it probably going to cost him ~$100. So maybe give me $100 discount and $100 credit.

Either way, I think I should accept the offer. The watch is going to end up like this after wearing it anyway, better to have $200 credit than nothing at all.

I just bought a Grand Seiko SLGW007 and it looked good out of the box. Then I looked it over with a loupe and found two blemishes on the zaratsu polish. Now that I know they are there, I can see them without the loupe if I look carefully.

CW strap defect

I recently bought a rubber strap for my C12 from the sale.

The strap does not securely lock into the watch. Even though it seems locked in, a little rotational torque causes the buckle side of the strap right out. I'm really lucky I wasn't wearing the watch the first time this happened!

The other side of the strap doesn't have this problem. I also got a black rubber strap in the sale that does not have this problem.

Is this issue common?

Are items sold in the sale customer returns, because if they are then this one was probably defective or was damaged at some point - even though it shows no signs of damage.

Has anyone had such a problem with CW and how did they handle it?

[Junghans Meister Chronoscope] New watch, first Junghans

Just picked this up today and surprised myself because it wasn't remotely on my radar.

It caught my eye while I was looking at watches in the next case and I was totally drawn to it. I love the yellow hands against the black subdials.

I checked out the Junghans Max Bill about a year ago and was disappointed, I thought it looked way better in photos than it does in person. But I think this watch looks better in person than in photos. The domed crystal and dial are so unique and I don't think the effect comes across in a picture.

I don't like the bracelet it comes with though, so I put a new strap on it and think it looks much better this way. It's not that clear in the second photo but it's a black rubber strap with yellow stitching that goes really well with the dial.

What do you guys think?

It seems like hardly anyone knows about Junghans, and most who do only know about the Max Bill, but that's far from their best watch.

Email forwarding problem

I just started using Polarismail and I'm having a huge problem with receiving forwarded email.

I have a mailbox set up to forward all email to an outlook.com email address, but it does not forward reliably. There are many emails in the mailbox at Polaris that are not reaching Outlook - not in spam or anywhere. And there are no undeliverable emails bouncing back to Polaris. Outlook is either silently blocking them or they are not being forwarded at all.

And it's inconsistent, I was trying to get a 2FA code from a website and the first two times it didn't reach Outlook. The third try reached Outlook, but all three were sitting in the mailbox at Polaris.

Anyone have that sort of experience with Polaris or any other email host? Anyone know why that might be happening?

[question] What's your favorite watch up to $10,000?

I am very close to pulling the trigger on a $10K MSRP watch. But it's a bit of an impulse purchase because I saw it for the first time at an AD and instantly fell in love. I was not looking for this style, or this brand or this expensive of a watch.

Most of my watches are under $5K, that's the pool I usually swim in, so I don't spend a lot of time thinking about buying watches that are more expensive. And the grails I lust for are way more than $10K so they're not applicable.

So I wanted to hear what your favorite watches are around this price to give me some alternatives to think about. If you were going to buy a $10K watch today, what would it be? What's your grail-for-$10K?

When I say $10K MSRP I mean it, because I am not paying retail for the watch in question. I am getting a good AD discount or possibly buying used. So don't recommend used watches I could get for $10K because I'm not spending that. Recommend up to $10K MSRP and assume I'll be spending less at an AD or buying it used. Apples to apples.

Before anyone asks, I don't want to say what the watch I'm looking at is yet, so that I don't inadvertently sway people's responses in a certain direction.

UPDATE:

Wow, I did not expect so many replies. And in hindsight, I probably should have provided more info.

  • I already have a Speedy. So if you said Speedy, give me your second pick.
  • I don't want a Rolex or a Tudor. So if you said Rolex or Tudor, give me your second pick.
  • I don't like Panerai. So if you said Panerai, give me you second pick.
  • For the comedians out there, I already have a watch box full of G-Shocks. Don't give me you second pick. lol

For those who suggested Glashutte Panomaticlunar, I thought that might be my next watch. But you didn't follow the rules, that's $12K+ new. But as much as I like it, I don't know how much wrist time it would get. And in steel I wish the grey dial was black and the silver dial was white.

So… The watch I'm considering is the Grand Seiko SLGW007. You can see still photos on the page but the magic happens when you see it catch light as it moves. I don't think I've seen anything like the way those indices reflect light against the dark dial. This is the best short video I've seen to illustrate that.

It is very thin for a Grand Seiko and I could stare at the gorgeous movement for hours. I have several watches with display case backs but none of their movements are all that special.

I already have two Grand Seikos and didn't plan on buying a third any time soon. But as soon as I picked this watch up, I just loved it. I don't know that I've ever been so quickly taken to a watch in my hand other than the Ulysse Nardin Freak S, but that's $175,000 and I knew I was obsessed before I ever laid hands on it.

Why I'm cancelling my Pool Diver order (probably)

I was indecisive about buying the Pool Diver until that last minute, when I finally pulled the trigger. The thing that I dislike most about the watch is the "nice tan / skin damage (ratio)" text on the dial. It would have been better without "(ratio)" or at least not using parenthesis: "nice tan / skin damage ratio." Having to explain the joke with a parenthetical is weird/awkward/clumsy.

But it just occurred to me that the "nice tan/skin damage" graph on the bezel isn't a ratio at all! If anything, that's a scale.

That makes printing "ratio" on the dial even worse. It's probably be a dealbreaker for me at this price. I'm gonna obsess over this and cringe every time I see it. So if you're on the waiting list, you're welcome.

Anyone else bothered by this?
