Interesting Menu Items?

We are returning to Aruba for our first anniversary in October after having an unbelievable honeymoon experience. Instead of the usual restaurant recommendation post, does anybody have any interesting or unusual menu item suggestions that are unique to a particular restaurant? Something an average American wouldn’t normally have back home? Or maybe a more typical menu item but a certain restaurant just puts an out of this world twist on it? Or a specific cuisine staple that only certain restaurants will do? For example, I noticed Akira Back has A5 wagyu and a few menus featured sweetbreads and conch.

Last year we tried escargot and bone marrow at L’Avenue. And we had Keshi Yena and Cabrito Stoba at Old Cunucu House (I realize this is traditional Aruban food but didn’t see these items many places).

Capital One Entertainment is a Ripoff

Just bought two tickets to a concert at Capital One Hall in Tysons, VA through Ticketmaster. Was looking to see if we got any benefits at the venue being cardholders. Happened to look up the same tickets because of the 8% cash back offer. They were $235 more per ticket!

Refresh My Memory - Maryland

Was there a field around Bowie area called Outdoor Adventures or OA? What happened to it? I remember playing speedball there once. I was telling my wife last night how I realized I can pick up childhood hobbies again as an adult with adult money. I haven’t played since like 2005-06. I’m on the Eastern Shore and would be looking to play speedball (preferably somewhere with electronic marker rentals). I have seen Pev’s and OXCC recommended. Back then, there was a shop on Kent Island that would organize speedball events at the local Elk’s Lodge and a local church would organize woodsball events.

What I remember of my setup:
SP Ion (can’t remember if I had a Virtue or Blackheart board)
Freak Jr barrel kit
Egg hopper
Vforce goggles
I remember like a 32 Degrees jersey and Redz pants or something
Couldn’t afford a tank after buying the marker and hopper, had to share with a buddy so we never played matches together 😂

Choice of Degree

Looking at job listings for DSO. Saw three that listed AAS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. One said “or a passing score on a test designed by the company”. Is this going to be a typical requirement/roadblock or would someone with say a degree in ETST from Bismarck have a chance? I have not yet enrolled but would expect to take about two years to complete an ETST degree but longer for EE/EET due to math and science requirements. ETST classes seem much more focused on the specific job requirements a DSO would face.

Step 1 - Earthquake Deductible [MD]

Looking to finally implement FOO after following for a little while and life has settled down some. I am evaluating insurance deductibles for Step 1. I discovered the earthquake deductible for my homeowner’s policy is 5%, which equates to $13,300. I want to know if this is worth considering as my highest deductible. The second highest deductible would be the regular loss deductible for my homeowner’s policy at $5,000.

I am located in Maryland (specifically on the Eastern Shore). We do not have a real history of earthquakes in this area, the last one we had was a 5.8 magnitude in 2011.

I searched the subreddit, found someone asking the same question a few years ago but they were located in a high earthquake area and their deductible was about $70,000. Most people said do not consider it since it would deter a normal person from starting the FOO. While my deductible is lower and somewhat more attainable, it would interfere with achieving future steps. I plan to refinance my car loan for a lower rate at a different structure to meet the 20/3/8 rule (which will require me to pay down the principal by about $8-9k).

Quick Bloodwork PSA

In case anyone is comparing labwork vendors. Just booked a handful of individual tests through Goodlabs, they were roughly 25% of the cost of the other providers. I know they have been recommended several times on here but this is my first time using them.

Lat Pulldown Warmup?

Is it worth it do warmup sets on lat pulldowns? Or just send it? I am doing them pretty much every workout, following the progression in Robert Santana’s article so I can hopefully do a chin up. I have just been going straight from deadlift work set to lat pulldown work set. Figured I was already warmed up from the main three lifts.

Another Storage Question

Hgh landed today, enough to last about 20 weeks maybe a little less. The box says store at fridge temps. But it came uninsulated, shipped from HK on May 12, went to Georgia, then West Virginia, then to me on May 27, without any sort of climate control. Does it even matter if the vials are refrigerated at this point? Even peptides bought from a US retailer took the same path across the world from the manufacturer. I see split opinions on fridge versus “cool, dark place” for lypholized vials, but nobody really brings up how the vials travel the supply chain. Is it a “okay un-refrigerated as long as necessary but no longer” situation? I’d rather have my non-reconstituted stuff in my nightstand than in the fridge for public viewing.

Visited a Private Gym Today

I was offered a free workout at a private gym in my town when I inquired about a tour. The manager buzzed me in remotely. Pictures were at 6 pm on a Wednesday and I was the only one there. All of their strength equipment is Arsenal brand. All plates are iron York plates and there were plenty of all sizes, no broken barbell clips with no misplaced/disorderly plates on the plate trees. They have two full bathrooms with showers, toiletries, everything you would need. They also had two Peloton treadmills, a Hydrow rower, an infrared sauna, and a cold plunge. Free coffee, bottled water, two different types of protein shakes, three different types of energy drinks. It’s nice to see how the other half lives every once in a while.

HGH Supporting Peps/Supps

Was doing some research on HGH titration and dose timing. Ran across this wellness clinic marketing HGH. They also had this section recommending complementary peptides and supplements. I have not seen anyone recommend HGH with CJC/Ipa on here as it seems redundant and less cost efficient. BPC/TB I can understand if you need it but may also fall into that redundancy/cost effectiveness zone but I don’t have the experience with BPC/TB to know for sure. IGF-1 LR3 seems like it could be complementary but not sure if it would be worth the hassle for the potential side effects and long term risks.

Supplements all seem reasonable.

Looking for discussion, not seeking recommendations. This seems a little different from what I see recommended here. Looking to reconcile the info. I assume part of this being on the clinic’s website is to drive more revenue as well.
