I recently purchased a brand new MacBook Pro M5 Pro from Microcenter on sale. Total cost $2500 after tax. This was a completely brand new unopened device. After setting things up I thought I would get AppleCare+ for it. When I went to check in the system, I discovered it has AppleCare for Enterprise through my 2030. I verified this via serial number on apples website and they confirmed the same.

I ran through a checklist to make sure it wasn’t tied to any orgs.

-No MDM installed
-No suspicious profiles
-No Organization name
-Serial Number in system matches box serial

What’s the deal here? I’m still in my return window and am wondering if I should return it? From my research, it doesn’t look like I can use this AppleCare without the organization initiating the repair call.

Anyone ever run into this? One thing to note is the sales rep couldn’t find my online order so he snagged a “similar” sku off the shelf. I wonder if he grabbed one that was supposed to be stocked for some company user?

Guy had so many great skits, very relatable and hilarious. I know he’s got a life to live and a family but boy I sure miss the content he so graciously provided the community.
