Older and new to golf

New to golf looking for other newbies to hopefully improve with.

I've been taking my nieces to the driving range. I'm currently terrible. Couple few good hits each time. I don't think I'm ready to try a course. Retired and trying a hobby. Looking for someone in the same bucket.

Elder Gen X sharing knowledge with Gen Alpha.

Yesterday I took my twin nieces to the driving range. Afterward we went for smoothies. As we were approaching the drive thru ordering spot a woman cut me off. She appeared to have no clue she almost hit us. I of course yelled out "Dude!" (can't cuss with the kids in the backseat) Anyway no harm no foul. We got our smoothies and headed to their home. There's pretty much only one road to get to their house, 30 mph zone but most people do 40ish. I glance in my review and who do I see? Jag off lady. I slowed to 30mph, glanced back at the girls and said, "Gosh, I think I should really just take it slow and do the speed limit through here." Jag off lady was riding my bumper. "Cuz ya know that lady that cut us off at the drive through, she's right behind us and she does not appear happy." The girls turn to look, turn back grinning. I ended with, "Dang look at that. Elder Gen X teaching Gen Alpha the art of being unbothered." They giggled. Highlight of my day.

New to me 2019 Crosstrek purchased today! 2nd Soobie.

CVT fluid was changed at 48K miles. Has 84K on it now, is it ready for another?

This car is way zippier than my Mazda CX5 was.

2016 Mazda CX5, 74,500 miles, automatic.

Ok, buckle up this takes a bit to explain. I bought the car used in summer of '22. 90+ degrees outside when I test drove it. This is important. At test drive, I opened hood, checked fluids and belts etc then started the car. Got back out looked at exhaust color, went back to engine to listen for any weird noises. Chatted with sales guy for a minute then got in car and drove it. No probs.

Bought the car that day. As a habit I let the car run for 30 secs or so before driving off.

Then winter temps hit. Took off from a stop light, tranny slipped into nothingness. Engine revved, lever still in D position but the dash showed blank. No engine light. Waited for a bit with engine running it scared the crap outta me, lotta traffic but I was able to pull over. Took off slowly, engine temp still had blue light (cold) got to 35mph it did it again. Took it to dealer, they have a shop and do repairs free labor. Not sure what they did besides look for codes. No codes were found. Told me it was fine. It was not.

Since then I've let it warm up till the cold engine light turns off. It's a pain but it keeps it from slipping most of the time.

I'm taking it in to have trans fluid drained and filled. I'm dropping it off the night before hoping they will drive it with a cold engine and can reproduce the problem.

Any ideas on what I can tell them to look for? Sorry for the long post Thanks!
