Social win after going vegan

Today, I went to a small park with my family and my endocrinologist+his daughter (my dad and he used to work together so they’re also friends). We were discussing my current altered diagnosis of type one diabetes to MODY-6 and how big the change was for my life (for the better). My dad and sibling both then commented that recently I’ve been looking a lot stronger and healthier. At first they reasoned this to being due to the changed diagnosis and treatment, but I corrected this. This change started more than a year ago, where I essentially experienced a relapse into my restrictive ed because of how scared I was to eat carbs (bc I was expected to not require many insulin injections bc I’m not “type 1”). As such, when I got this dx change, I actually ate a lot more eggs, cheese, and yogurt and even fish occasionally to try and maintain my bg. As of these last few months where I fully altered my way of life to be in line with my moral (and thereby have gone vegan), I’ve been able to truly commit to an ed recovery I feel proud of + I accept that my vegan diet requires I inject novolog a few times a day. I essentially explained to my family and my Endo that I was able to heal my body and become strong by finding a healthy middle between my MODY and a vegan diet. I felt really proud to say it, because I know my family was rather taken aback bc they always believed I was more weak and thin bc I needed to eat more animal products. In reality, I truly believe animal products just added to the discomforted and ill feeling that I had with my ed. Idk just a good feeling today, knowing I’ve proven to my family that I don’t need to be like them to be strong.

I also tbh felt really happy too bc later when we went to a restaurant, our table got a piece of cake for my dad bc it’s his birthday. He didnt want to eat it so my sibling did, and while they offered me som and I declined, they started telling me their idea on how to make the same cake vegan and gluten free. It really touched my heart honestly.

Thumbnail recs

Hi ! I want to start up a channel, mainly for minecraft though I might play other games as well. Do yall have any recommendations for the kinds of programs to use to make thumbnails? I’m pretty inexperienced but I just want to try something new and learn how to make fun thumbnails. There’s a lot of information online about what I could use so I’m just curious if there’s any specific recs or advice. Thanks !

meat eaters make me nauseous

I’ve been vegan for the last two ish months and I have felt so aligned mentally, emotionally, and physically. Im proud of myself for overcoming with past discomfort and uncertainty I felt over going all in. More than ever now, though, I feel so utterly and viscerally nauseated by the presence of meat around me + on a sensory level it sends me into such high amounts of disgust and anxiety it’s hard to handle sometimes. I was vegetarian for 10 years prior to this recent change and I’ve always been really grossed out by eating animal flesh, but like I legit cannot hear people go on about how “delicious” animal meat is it just makes me feel sick and barfy. And I was trying to warm up some beans and tostones in the kitchen earlier and I had to put everything down and leave immediately because my dad was cutting into this meat and the sound of the knife make me feel like there was bile in my throat. I know there’s not really a way to remedy this and I don’t want it to be yknow but man it sucks living with a family of hardcore meat eaters. And also it SMELLS BAD like not only are you eating so much of an animal but man you have to make the whole house reek of it too like FAWK

Possible to work 15 ish hours?

Hi ! Do you folks find it reasonable if I ask to work around 15 hours if I’m working a part time cashiering/stocker role? I’m still working as a restaurant host 30-40 hrs a week so I don’t wanna overdo it taking on too many hours at aldi. Sorry if this sounds dumb lol

Saw this bird near my new apartment building

Took these photos by the lake near my new apartment building. I’m curious on what kind of bird it is :> I love birds but I’m extremely amateurish on identifying them

Just expressing a sense of contentedness

Hi ^_^ ! These last few weeks I’ve made many radical changes to my diet as I’ve taken veganism in stride. I was vegetarian since I was eleven years old, with many moments in between of entirely plant based eating. I made a post a few weeks back about my struggle balancing recovering from an ED and my long held desire to go vegan. I’ve held steadfast in my resolve to adhere to my ethical beliefs and also take care of myself, and I can say I genuinely have been feeling so good. My stress and anxiety about eating and restricting have faded to annoying voices that I can handle, cognitively refuting all the urges with the acknowledgement that I MUST eat well as a vegan to remain strong. I know I will not become unwell, sick, and lazy so long as I know the right plant foods to eat that support my health and the well being of animals and the planet. It brings me a lot of excitement and internal peace, and has even provided me a vessel of trying fear foods many with plant ingredients. I even purchased a few select supplements like b12, calcium, and algae omega-3s to ensure I keep my nutrition up. I just really wanted to express this feeling of positivity to a community who can understand me :)
