Sale: MacBook Pro 16” M5 Max 128GB (East Coast Tri-State area, US)

I bought a brand-new, 16” MacBook Pro (M5 Max, 128GB Unified Memory, 2TB SSD) just before the recent price hike. The current retail price is around $7,000.

After thinking it through, I don’t think this configuration is the right fit for my workflow. Before I return it, I figured I’d see if anyone in the group is looking for this exact model.

If you’re in the tri-state area and interested to buy face to face, send me a DM with an offer. I’d rather sell it to someone here at a discount from the current retail price than return it.

What Custom AI Workstation Matches a Fully Loaded MacBook Pro M5 Max?

I’m curious what **workstation** would provide similar or better performance for AI workloads compared to MacBook Pro 16” M5 Max 128gb unified memory with 2TB SSD.

The metrics I’m most interested in are:
\- LLM inference speed
\- Model loading time
\- Fine tuning and training performance
\- Running large models locally
\- Overall AI development experience

I’d appreciate recommendations for GPU(s), CPU, RAM, Storage and Estimated cost

How do I securely sell my 128gb MacBook Pro 16" M5 Max?

I'm looking for some honest advice from people who've sold Macs before.

Before Apple's recent price increase, I bought a new 16" MacBook Pro M5 Max (18-core CPU, 40-core GPU, 128GB unified memory, 2TB SSD, Space Black) for about $5,000+tax.

I was already on the fence about keeping it because it's a significant purchase. Now that the same configuration costs roughly $2,000 more, I think it makes more sense to sell it instead of returning it while I'm still within my return window (about 10 days left).

My biggest concern is that I've never sold something this expensive before. I don't want to get scammed, and I also don't want potential buyers to think I am the scammer. I'm currently trying Facebook Marketplace and prefer not to use eBay.

For those who have sold high-value Apple products locally:

  • Where did you sell them?
  • What payment method did you use?
  • Where did you meet the buyer?
  • What precautions would you recommend?

I'm not looking to maximize every last dollar if it means taking unnecessary risks. If I can't sell it safely, I'll most likely just return it.

I'd appreciate any advice or experiences you can share.

Car Camping

I’m flying into Bozeman and may do car camping in at a reserved RV campsite in the park. I’m looking for rental camping gear, especially a warm sleeping bag, bedding, and other car-camping essentials for cold nights in early August. What gear would you recommend, where can I rent it near Bozeman? Also, what are the things to note for car camping? Thanks!
