another little photodump of my current tamtey :)

i adore the way i've designed them so much, they're definitely one of my favs :) i wanted to make them seem like not really a direct part of any clan and i feel like i nailed it, so i'm super happy about that

also, ignore the different hairstyles used in this, i was completing clan contributions so wanted to check a bunch of them out, especially since the kukulope hair mod i was using kept disappearing in photo mode so it made the screenshots way more difficult to create! if anybody wants the mods i've used i will link them :)

can anybody make a guide on how to get the astronaut job or any job involving science?

i've tried SO many times but it's so difficult, obviously i know you can only get skills and knowledge in science using the telescope but for whatever reason im unable to get the work experience in science jobs that's required to actually get them, so a guide would be pretty neat!

how do i dye these hell bunny jeans?

for context, i only got these in early may, and they've faded quite a lot due to more frequent washes due to the heatwave in the uk making me sweat loads, hence the washes. first image is the jeans right now, second one is the jeans on the website (aka how they looked fresh from the shop i bought them in, also first image may look slightly more saturated then it is irl due to phone cameras being weird).

the main thing i'm worrying about is 1, the size of them and how much dye i'd need to buy, 2, if the dye will discolour the metal parts like the zip and the metal rings on the side. i really love them but the contrast between the black and the brown has really gone down (the black appearing more grey and brown appearing much less saturated) and i really want to get them looking better.

i also don't know what dye to actually use (especially what specific colour to look for) and i'm completely new to dyeing clothes. i'm uk based if that's any guide on where is best to get dye from, and these jeans are 100% cotton. any advice is greatly appreciated!

does anybody know what type of plant this is?

for context i bought it at tescos but it didn't actually say what plant it is. i've had for a few months now and it's grown a LOT with all the sunshine we've been having this spring in the uk, ive tried to search up for it but haven't found anything. the smaller green growth is moss im assuming but im unsure what the tall one with the pink leaves is

my tips for new players!

i notice people asking for advice during the early-to-mid game, especially when it comes to combat level, gathering and exploration. i'm gonna list a bunch of things that have REALLY helped me throughout my saves! if anybody else has tips they'd like to share please do share them below :)

  1. use the hunter's guide whenever possible, especially when it comes to certain crafting recipes for gear (clothing) and weapons. the hunter's guide will tell you where to find the rarest/best quality items which will provide different buffs and do more damage/provide more health. i found it very confusing at first, but it gets a lot easier to understand the more you play!!

  2. whenever any mission comes up that involves having to save/rescue people/combat, make sure you are prepared. i really recommend stocking up on food with certain buffs (especially dishes that give you damage, health or stealth buffs, depending on preferred playstyle. milk as a main ingredient will give you a damage buff against rda, lean meat for overall damage, fish for stealth, fruit for health and fatty meat for defense). i also recommend stocking up on pods (acrid AND sulphur. sulphur is often found in trees, in kinglor forest i recommend going to the twisted vines biome since they're very abundant, and for acrid pods find rockier areas next to water sources). make sure you have enough sticks for arrows too, i cannot stress to you guys enough how often i've been screwed over by not having enough of all of these things for missions

  3. when you first get to the upper plains, fly to the floating mountain area (weeping steps i think) and find an abandoned na'vi camp to start the black wind quest. this will give you a VERY good heavy bow that (when crafted with the best quality materials) can increase you 2-3 levels (got me from lvl 7 up to 10 once). do not try and kill the stormglider until you reach around level 14-15 though!

  4. try and develop your playstyle as much as possible. afop is great for allowing you to have a varied way of playing the game, especially when it comes to taking down RDA outposts and installations. practise different methods on the smaller installations (yellow towers) as there are less enemies and it's not as stressful as the larger outposts. you can practise stealth and hacking, or just going in guns blazing and fighting them all off quickly. make sure you know you can kill all of them even while being overwhelmed before trying the guns blazing method on the larger outposts, as if they call for reinforcements you won't get as many rewards from defeating them. i tend to find hacking and stealth is best (always hack turrets too! if they detect you and begin shooting it will alert RDA)

  5. do as many things as possible to get spare parts, they're fundamental for most special ammo, same with the acrid pods and sulphur pods. there's a bit on the skill tree that allows you to collect spare parts from fallen amp suits, which is really helpful.

  6. exploring on ikran is best when trying to remove all the clouds that cover the map in the menu up, however i recommend flying low when near na'vi camps to try and discover them so you can fast travel to them.

  7. when in the ancestor skill tree, you can find the tarsyu by selecting the 'show on map' and quickly pinning the location (the pin will be a green beam). it took me SO long to figure that out, but it's VERY worth it!!

  8. try and complete whatever skill tree you think is best as soon as possible. for me that was the way of the maker one, as it gives you a skill that basically makes all the items you craft MUCH stronger then they were before (however you have to make them again, even if you already have them). it's also worth trying to complete the way of the warrior and the way of the survivor though, as it gives you very good buffs!

what do we think zeswa cheese and other na'vi dishes would actually taste like?

what the title says basically, but this is genuinely something i've always wondered. the food in afop always looks and sounds amazing, especially things like zangke, sahena, the cheeses, etc. i personally feel zeswa cheese would be similar in taste to a mature cheddar but have a texture close to aged goat's cheese (crumbly), and when sweetened with fruits would taste kind of similar to cheese-stuffed dates (WHICH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AS A SNACK, they're really tasty and a great source of fibre and protein!!)

i'm not really sure with zangke? i can't tell if it's meant to be similar to alcohol or something, judging by the fact it's made with dairy i initially though it'd be more akin to a smoothie or something like mango lassi (just without the mango and with spices instead), but judging by the way they use it for celebrations im now thinking it might be more alcoholic

either way, i'd love to hear about the different ideas and interpretations of the na'vi dishes in the game you guys have :)

so, i'm going to using some henna paste on clothing to do a design on a pair of jeans i own this weekend, and while i've done a lot of research i'm still a bit confused on a certain part of it regarding how soon to wash it and *how* to wash it.

im wondering what would be the best way to wash the clothing afterwards? should i put the clothes into wash immediately after removing the dried paste? should i machine wash them or hand wash them?? i know to avoid using any detergent with bleach in and not to wash for the first 24 hours minimum, but still not sure if using cold or hot water would be best, etc etc

edit: the cones i'm going to be using are some henna paste from one of the recommend suppliers + some old neha henna cones from before i found this subreddit, obviously do NOT use neha cones on your skin, i'm not currently and am only planning on using them on clothing!!!

so i've been wanting to delete my first save file for a while due to the fact i can't actually access it anymore!! my laptop doesn't have enough space for the skybreaker and spires DLCs (it did when i got them both, but now for some reason doesn't???) i've been wanting to delete the first save file to hopefully free up some storage space, but it won't let me delete it unless i have both dlcs active for some reason??? is there any way to work around this?
