Is this an acceptable battery degradation after four years?

Hi folks,

I’m looking into buying a 2022 (72) 52kwh VW ID4 and I’ve just had the battery report back saying it’s down to 89% residual energy capacity.

Is this normal for this model and age of car? I was a little wary of going for the lower range model to begin with, so losing 10% of its range has me a bit worried.

Edit: it’s done 33k miles

Advice on getting a high mileage second hand EV

Currently paying £369 a month for my Volvo V60 + more than £100 in petrol each month. My dealership said they’ll let me end the PCP deal for around £1500, so I’m really tempted to take them up on it and to get an EV.

Need something with a bit of spare for the dog and son, and found myself drawn to the Volvo C40 (just can’t get enough of the Volvo “look” I’m afraid), as well as ID 4s and Enyaqs.

My question is whether anyone had experience of picking up cheaper EVs with over 50k miles on the clock?

I can see so many decent EVS for under £18k because of their high mileage - which could easily half my month costs for the car - and while a fair bit of Googling says that shouldn’t be as much of a factor in buying second hand EVs I’d love a bit of first hand experience from folk on here. Thanks!

Hey folks,

I’m looking at picking up my first EV and found myself looking at second hand ID3s. I’m coming from a Volvo V60, so cabin space is going to be a big factor for me and the family. I looked at Volvo EVs and some of the newer Skodas, but really drawn to the price of second hand ID3s. Especially if I can get a 2-3 year old one for under £20k.

I was wondering if I could get some first hand experience with anyone that has had one of the newer ID3s. I think I’m right in saying they did a revamp in 2023, with improved infotainment, design and performance.

Frustratingly, 99% of the car reviewers online focus entirely on the touch controls (not a big deal for me) and the “boring interior” (also not a problem for me, having had VW and Skodas in the past) and often overlook the actual drive quality and range/performance of the batteries.

So here I am wondering if anyone can give an honest review of an ID3 from a drive and performance point of view.

Note: Yes I know I can get an Enyaj or Hyundai Kona instead. So no need to fill the comment section with such suggestions please.
