EF 24-70 2.8 II aperture ribbon failure

Hi all, yesterday during a shoot using my r5ii I tried stopping down with my EF 24-70 2.8 II and got the dreaded err 01. I mostly shoot wide open with this lens anyway, so I'm not even sure how long this lens has had the issue. Would you guys recommend even getting it fixed if I shoot wide open most of the time? The main concern I have is the AF eventually failing, so I'm also wondering if the ribbon that controls aperture is related to the AF at all? Thanks for the insight in advance : )
