Tax Audit Calculation
A friend got retrenched recently and LHDN did an audit of the past 3 years. Pretty standard stuff except they found discrepancies. Some of the charity that my friend has been donating to through his company, which the company said is tax claimable turns out is not. Also some personal insurance stuff that again apparently is not claimable. Not a big deal, just a couple of hundred each year for the past 3 years.
The total that LHDN declared he owes though is a lot higher than that. We calculated all of the minor adjustments to come to about 3k but LHDN sent a bill of 11k to his company.
He has replied to LHDN asking for an explanation but I'm curious too. Anyone knows how did they arrive at this number and why is there such a big difference?
