how close to snare should i sit?
im constantly moving my god damn snare around and i’m losing it.
if im too close then the back of my right stick hits my thigh and that drives me insane. i dont want to play with my hands to my nipples so i move back but then i have to completely stretch to reach the rack tom and that don’t feel good either.
what am i doing wrong? appreciate any input thanks.
rate my kit
stage custom bop, mid 60s slingerland hollywood ace snare
k custom dark hihat 14, k custom dark ride 22, mid 50s big stamp avedis 22(only bout 2800g, dry yet crisp, bright attack but dark tone), k con light 20 w 3 rivets
i’m in love with it, personally. planning to replace dark ride with a 22 k con and after that i will have no reason to ever buy anything again. appreciate any comments!
any other beginner musicians want to make sounds with a jazz drummer?
hello, 35 year old male drummer, looking to jam with someone else that doesn’t know what they’re doing.
never played with anyone before and looking for someone that wants to learn together. played an e-kit for a couple years, been entirely dedicated since getting an acoustic kit 8 months ago. it’s all i think about.
focused primarily on jazz, funk, fusion, but mostly looking to just make sounds and experiment. definitely not trying to start a rock/covers band.
don’t have chops but i groove i swing
hoping you have a spot to play, mine is less than ideal.
just seeing what’s out there, serious inquiries only please. thanks for reading.
is it possible to modify an old A to sound like an old K?
i’m not a cymbal smith, clearly, but it seems theoretically possible. lathe off some weight, hammer the fuck out of it. the older it is the drier it’ll be. what do you guys think?
it’s just so warm and accents soft as silk yet dark and comforting, i basically stopped using my k custom 22 dark ride after getting the k con it started sounding like a trash can lid.
the second pic is the mid 50s big stamp avedis 22 ride i just got, its a very beautiful cymbal with such a dark and rich and complex sound, but im always thinking bout the soft embrace of the k con light. there’s no point to this thread just showing off some cymbals.
