Removing Archetype Feat Restriction

Hey y'all!

I've told my players they can ignore the rule around archetype feats and dedications. For example, my cleric player picked up the Medic Dedication at L2 in their Free Archetype slot, then Doctor's Visitation at L4 in their Class Feat slot and Bastion Dedication in their FA slot.

To me, (1) if it fits their character, why not? At the same time, if they try to gimmick the system and push their character development in a way that enables munchkinism, (2) the action economy and hand economy naturally limits things. And (3) if they play the number-go-up game, it's kinda cool. As the GM, seeing someone's specific combo of nonsense pay off in a way that every so often breaks my encounter isn't the end of the world.

That said, am I downplaying the negatives? Have you done this and regretted it?

Famously Short Symphony Movement?

I've been trying to search this, and I feel embarrassed that I can't remember from my music history classes (even though I've been out of school for 12 years now), but I must admit defeat and ask for y'all's help.

There is a symphony (could be a concerto) of a relatively well-known composer where the slow movement is literally two chords. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Brainstorming Vitality "Zombie"

Hello!

I'm running a oneshot at a FLGS, but I want to subvert the classic zombie fight trope. To that end, I've got the idea of making creatures that were once humanoid but were flooded with so much vitality energy that they've been transformed into these hostile monsters.

I did see the gliminal, it's a very cool concept, but it seems hard to adapt for the purposes of a beginner-friendly session with 2nd-level characters. Same with jyoti. The design intent is that these are temporary and imperfect monsters, the BBEG merely uses them to mop up the PCs.

So far, I have the following ideas:

  • minimal weakness to bludgeoning, massive weakness to void
  • regeneration turned off by void damage
    • possibly another damage type (since this is a oneshot and players may show up with characters that don't do void damage, perhaps fire or cold?)
  • permanently quickened 1, only able to Stride or Step (since normal zombies are permanently slowed 1)
  • some sort of permanent debuff such as dazzled

What are your thoughts? Should I ditch regeneration and just use very high HP? Any other cool creatures I should look at for inspiration? Anything above you strongly caution against?

Thanks!

Remastered Druid Orders From Secrets of Magic?

Hey all!

The Flame, Stone, and Wave Orders were printed in Secrets of Magic but, unless I'm blind, won't be remastered in Impossible Magic. While I have a feeling my GM won't mind a little legacy content in her game, is there anything on the horizon where those orders get remastered?

Beginner Box question: for those with experience with both the Otari and Grayce adventures, which do you prefer and why?

Yesterday I received the best text an uncle could get. My sister let me know her eldest was very interested in TTRPGs and wanted to learn to play so they could teach their friends! I've run the Otari Beginner Box twice now and I enjoyed it a lot, but I saw some weeks back that a new tutorial adventure had been released. So, for anyone who has experience with the new Beginner Box, what are your thoughts?
