I'm thinking about swapping out my z-440 to a. Z4 g4.
My memory and GPU etc will swap over. But it will even up costing me $150ish after everything washes out.
Is it with the rib to get to that? On board m.2, next Gen Xeon... Not to much more. Is it worth it?

I have a 9 pin serial port with its cable that came with my z440 and I'm never going to use it. If anybody wants it let me know.
So I got my second HP z-440 today and it was very bare bones, 500W PS, no ram shroud, some sort of xeon cpu (not sure yet it's not bootable)
Their is no on board graphics which I know, but the 500w PS doesn't have dual 6 pin connectors to support my MSI GTX-970 (I know POS).

Uhhh I have a basic box.
My goal is to make two Z-440's out of one.
My original Z-440 came with 64GB of ram and a 20core xeon (beast for VM's) but not the best performance I can get out of this. I hear a core i7 can work??? But I ordered a Xeon E5-1680 8 cores 16 threads. Everything is telling me this is the optimal CPU for the job. Also I bought a GeForce RTX 3060 (12 GB GDDR6) for it.
It's great, can I get this other z-440 to get close to that????

So the Xeon E5 1680 V4 LGA 2011-3 is the highest performance Xeon (I know about the i7's) to build a powerful workstation out of this specific box.
So to get to my point... other than (I've done this before) resetting the bios is their anything else to do?
So other than sell it (locally I do not want to ship it) what else could I use it for?

I'm running Kubuntu 26.40 can I upgrade the kernel to 7.2 without blowing up my system? If so what will happen?

I keep an eye on distro watch, I don';t understand why is Kubuntu not as popular as it should be?
Granted everyone has a fav. but as far as an easy to use, well supported distro. I think it's awesome.
It's powerful, 26.04 comes with the 7.0 kernel. And it works on just about everything.
I know they came out and said 8gb ram etc. That is a suggestion, not a rule.
I just think across my platforms (home 3 systems) it just works.
I know not everyone us an ubuntu fan boy, be nice and give me a real opinion.

This is it I have a Lenovo t14s gen 1 with the Intel core i7. Running proxmox. I've got my Nas to the left that's 1 TB nvme's mirrored. Currently my raspberry pi is running on that box on the right. But I will load pie hole on the proxmox server when I get the time. But everything works! Rather smoothly also :-)
Anyone else loose wave terminal when upgrading to kernel 7?
So I have a higher end T14s, it had a touch screen and is acting as a media server.
Also I have a slightly less powerful T14S, same Gen. It does not have a touch screen.
Can I swap the screens so my daily driver has a touch screen?

I want to image one drive to another in Kubuntu. Any suggestions? I've tried a couple but they are just partition managers.

How do I do that without me logging in etc.? so I know windows has a command to prep it for being logged in as a new user.
Does either Ubuntu, or fedora do that?
