Should I go back to work after maternity leave?

My baby girl is only 9 weeks old but I am already questioning whether I will go back to work or not.

I am in a unique situation where my husband has his own company and is very successful and where I have a fairly low to average paying job (£33,000 in London).

Before having the baby I was quite adamant to go back but now I am not so sure. Nursery would cost the same as my take-home pay, we don't get any free hours to start with (I wouldn't be fully responsible and my husband would share the cost). And I wonder, why work so I can pay someone else to take care of my baby? I won't be sure that they are caring for her as well as I am.

My husband is happy for me to stay at home. Would I be crazy to go to work when my salary has almost no impact on the family?

Obviously returning to work has some big advantages:

- I won't need to repay my maternity pay

- I get to keep a life outside the house

- I get to keep my career going

Disadvantages:

- high childcare costs

- uncertainty over level of care provided

- missing out on baby growing up

- difficulty managing household chores

How many of us are just 'not very nice' when we drink alcohol?

On Friday we went out for dinner and drinks with my husband's parents. We started off with cocktails, I had two and my husband had three.

He's not a small man and after three drinks he wasn't drunk but he becomes sharper and meaner when he drinks. More argumentative. Louder.

We went on to the restaurant and he had another drink. He spent the evening being really argumentative. I didn't drink any more but argued back with him.

We got home and ended up having a big argument in front of his parents and me being accused of being drunk. I wasn't drunk but the drinks I had had earlier in the night lowered my inhibitions and definitely led me to behave in a way I wouldn't usually in front of his parents.

If I'm honest with myself I am definitely a worse version of myself even after one or two drinks. My husband won't admit it but he is very unlikable when he drinks. He becomes overly jovial and sloppy and quick to anger.

Is this the norm?

Keeping your baby safe in public, and reducing anxiety about something bad happening.

A couple of days ago we were out for an evening stroll with our one month old baby girl who was in her pram.

A woman under the influence of drugs spotted our baby and started walking alongside the pram talking gibberish and flailing her arms. I gave the pram over to my husband and we tried to out walk her but she followed us for some time and made us both very uneasy, that she could hurt our baby. In retrospect we didn't do what was best. I should have kept pushing the pram and my husband should have got between the woman and our baby to protect her...

Anyway, now I feel quite nervous about taking my baby out, especially alone. I've started using the baby Bjorn carrier when I am alone so at least no one would be able to grab her. I'm quite afraid also of being hit by a bike or someone walking into us and hurting her. A bit skipped a red light on our second outing with the baby and I screamed at the guy.

How do you make sure your baby is safe in public and reduce anxiety about something bad happening?

Warning - almost got caught by lastminute.com customer service scam

We booked a flight with extra leg room on lastminute.com.When we were trying to check in the airline did not have the extra leg room seats just the regular ones.

We tried all afternoon to get in touch with lastminute.com but their customer service was shit. No phone number, just a web chat. No response, time running out.

Out of desperation I posted on their social media account. Within minutes I received a friend request from helpdesk_lastminute who sent me a message asking for our Whatsapp number to help solve the issue.

They phoned us up shortly after. They asked for our booking ref and invoice which we provided. They said they would investigate and phone us back in 30 minutes.

They phoned back, bad news, the airline had double booked the extra legroom but we would be getting a refund and compensation.

Had we downloaded the last-minute.com refund app? No we haven't. We were very suspicious at this point. It did not make sense. Why couldn't they just refund us through the website?

We refused to download the app and said just to put a credit on our account and hung up.

At this point we realised they were trying to scam us and that we had not been talking to the real last minute.com

Please be very careful when seeking help on social media. Lastminute's terrible customer service created space for an opportunist scammer to try and exploit us and rob us in a moment of stress. Feeling very stupid and hoping that nothing will come of this.

On a separate note, don't book flights through lastminute.com...
