Demo video: Record videos from your iPhone directly into REAPER easily

Hi folks,

I've spent the last several days creating a REAPER extension + iOS app to help me streamline the process of recording full-quality videos and getting them into REAPER super easily.

I was trying to record myself playing guitar and singing on my iPhone while also recording audio in REAPER, and finding it to be a huge hassle to get everything set up correctly, not forget to press record in one place or the other, make sure I am in-frame, transfer the video file to my computer, sync it up etc. This makes it just way easier.

Let me know if you are interested in testing it out.

You need an iOS device and either Windows or macOS for REAPER. May look at Linux and Android support later but for now I'm just seeing if it's worth paying the $99 Apple tax to distribute the app for free on the App Store.

Landscaping recommendation?

I am considering replacing a large, aging deck with some low-maintenance landscaping. There are a bunch of considerations about re-grading, slope, etc though, so this is not really a DIY/handyman type of job (which is sad for my wallet).

Looking for recommendations for a good landscape/hardscape company.

Thanks! -Kevin

My 660 sqft deck needs to be rebuilt. $40k quote?

I live near Seattle (an expensive area). and my house has a 20x33 deck. It is near the end of it's lifespan.

The first quote I received was for $40,000 dollars. This was for a composite (trex) middle of the line material.

This is pretty far out of my budget right now. I think the structure will last at least a few more years so I am considering just replacing the decking with basic Trex enhance which I figure I could re-use when we eventually rebuilt the structure in hopefully 5+ years.

Unfortunately it looks like the joists are 24 on center which is not recommended for composite. The deck would see very light use, my wife and daughter are small people and I barely use the deck.

Ideas/thoughts appreciated, thanks!

My huge deck needs to be replaced. Can I landscape instead?

I have a deck that starts at ground level and at the far end is almost 5 feet off the ground as my yard slopes down. It’s 20 feet wide by 33 feet long.

If I just tear the deck out completely, there will be a huge low point ranging from 6 inches to several feet below the ground as it extends from my house.

I’m getting different quotes but rebuilding this deck is going to cost something probably between 30 and $40,000 if I really do things correctly. That’s a tough pill for me to swallow.

I’m trying to brainstorm other options. Obviously I’d have to fill in the area with some kind of dirt and grass. But I’m wondering what else I could do. Maybe there’s a way I can take advantage of the existing downward slope? But then it wouldn’t be level with the two lawns that are on either side of the deck.

Ideas appreciated! I live in the Seattle area. Stuff is pretty expensive here.
