Best ways to meet other travellers as a solo backpacker?

I (F 23) have just landed in Phnom Penh and I’m feeling really anxious and overwhelmed by my loneliness already. I start teaching here in a month so I’m going to backpack around the country before my job starts but I’m feeling really uncertain in myself. Where can I go to meet other people who aren’t crazy about drinking/partying? (I’m not anti either of those things, I just get bad anxiety). My interests include reading, nature, photography, yoga and lots of nerdy things if that helps. I plan on getting a bus to Siem Riep in two or three days so I’ll book myself into a sociable hostel there, but I’m also really anxious about that. Any advice?

How do the baddies book tables at any restaurants?

So I’ve just finished watching Midwest for the first time, and I genuinely cannot imagine how the reservation call must go whenever these women go out to eat (but never end up eating). Like - do the producers call the restaurant and say “Hi I need a booking for 20 people at 7pm. They are going to need to be seated separately from the rest of your customers because they’re probably going to fight each other and trash your establishment. Sorry about that.” Or like what? Because I, if I was hypothetically the manager at one of these places, would not even want the promotion of being on Baddies if it’s going to encourage the fans of these women to come to my restaurant and then probably also fight. I just really cannot picture how they organise anything and what kind of warning they give out to anyone who might have to deal with the Baddies (servers, activity coordinators, etc). Does anyone have any insight? 😂

If you haven’t read the SCUM manifesto you should check it out

I mean she was a crazy lady so you’ve got to take some of it with a pinch of salt, but considering the book was published in 1968 (I believe) it’s still extremely relevant. May Valerie Solanas’ soul rest in peace.

Anyone want two tickets to the Motown day party event at The Gaiety?

Doesn’t happen until the 22nd of August and looks like it’s going to be great but my plans have changed and I won’t be in the country. Cost me £45 for the two. :)
