Leftover stir-fried tofu hits way better on day two

I made this on Wednesday with deep-fried tofu, garlic scapes, ginger, garlic, fermented black beans, and doubanjiang. Eating it as leftovers today might be even better than when I first cooked it because the tofu had time to soak up the rich, spicy sauce like a sponge. Served it with a side of white rice.

A rainy morning at the Rosengarten in Bamberg (Missed the first flush, but found my next wish-list rose!)

I recently visited the beautiful Rosengarten in Bamberg. We had a pretty intense heat wave recently, but a thunderstorm rolled through the previous night, and the roses looked so incredibly relieved to have a break from the scorching sun. Everything was glistening with fresh raindrops.

I completely fell in love with Grebrüder Grimm (pics 2-4). The vibrant orange-pink tones covered in water droplets were just breathtaking. It went straight to the top of my wish list and will definitely be my next purchase!

Getting to see Herzogin Christiana (aka Earth Angel or Secret Parfuma) was something I really looked forward to, but unfortunately, the peak first flush of the season had already wrapped up. (Pic 7)

Another one is La Perla (pic 8, with those lovely creamy tones), though a couple of yellow roses that look very similar are already growing in my garden at home, so she won't be joining the shopping list just yet.

Has anyone here ever tried planting Tagetes as green manure to prep their rose beds? In the circular bed surrounding the statue in pic 6, they have filled the entire space with dense marigold foliage instead of roses. As explained on a visitor information sign, the garden caretakers plant these marigolds in the summer as an interim crop. Once the blooming period finishes, the entire plant is chopped up and tilled directly back into the earth before new roses are put into the bed in autumn.

Strawberry cake made by my husband. It is made of a simple light cake base, a Biskuitteig, topped with fresh strawberries and a shiny jelly glaze.

I do most of the baking at home, but when strawberry season arrives, I happily let my husband take over. He makes this classic German strawberry cake, known as an Erdbeerkuchen, completely from scratch without even needing a recipe.
