I’m starting high school on Monday and I’m the quiet and shy kid in school, I hate when people are asking questions from me, but also hate when there’s no one talking to me

I feel like if I start to act cool, my old friends won’t talk to me anymore, but since I don’t have classes with my best friends I’m pretty much alone in every class, and don’t have the confidence to start conversation with another person. And when others start conversation with me I’m always so shutdown that I answer them with one word and don’t talk to them ever again

How can I fix that?
How can I actually start a conversation rather than waiting for people to approach me?

My high school allows us to take 8 classes which is a lot, and my mom took all 8 classes and since with all that classes I could take 3 electives, and she took the worst ones. AP human geography, journalism, and art history.
She won’t even let me change them.
Can I change my classes without her knowing or substitute one class so I can have seven classes?

Or I should just rent them with zionpeddler.com?

I wanna binge-read like three book series and I was wondering like do librarians judge me if I checkout this much?
