Snarky Puppy in Las Vegas

Went to the show Monday night in Las Vegas at the Brooklyn Bowl theater.

Great show, good sized crowd, really nice energy and atmosphere in the room.

They brought a couple of local musicians on stage(can't remember the names) for a couple of songs. And for their encore, they played Lingus and brought out a younger guy on keyboards to play Cory Henry's part. He was pretty good.

A good test for your system

I'm sitting here listening to some new contemporary jazz on Qobuz and I stumbled upon the new album from Mark Isham called, "At The Carousel Club". Mark Isham is a horn player and producer, composer. And the best way I can describe this recording is like a Dominique Fils-Aimé song without her singing.

So instead of her vocals you have his horn playing. And in the background you have all the other sounds, instruments, layers, imaging, and separation. Similar to her recordings. In particular, check out the songs, "City Lore", and "Number Theory".

Apparently this is his first recording he's released in 15 years.

Things happen in the digital world.

From your Tidal app through your streaming device, streaming device service, cell service/wifi, Tidal music servers, then back through those same devices. The whole journey just takes a fraction of seconds but it's a signal chain that has to have every part working perfectly and in sync, before you can get music.

Back in the, "good old days", you took your physical media to the player and pushed play.

That's not how streaming works.

So please don't panic or get upset when Tidal connect doesn't work. It might not even be a Tidal problem. And more than likely it will be fixed pretty quickly.

New Bootsy album, "Metal Health" featuring Buckethead

I'm listening to it now.

It's metal, it's Bootsy and it's Buckethead.

Not to bad actually.

Saving my music until I get home.

Just wondering who else would rather listen to music at home on their good system rather than all day on ear buds?

I stream Tidal and Qobuz. And I have a pretty decent 2.1 system. And I just don't get the same listening enjoyment in my car or through my phone.

I look forward all day to coming home from work.

Relaxing.

Spending time with my wife.

Then sitting in my chair and listening to my music.

I don't need nor want to listen to music all day long.

Eversolo Z10, WOW!

I'm not going to bore you guys with a long drawn out post. I'm just going to say that the sound I'm getting from the Z10 is more powerful, more dynamic, more full, hard hitting and the bass is out of this world!

The equipment I'm using is a Eversolo DMP-A6/streamer, Eversolo Z10/DAC, Emotiva BASX-TA2+ Integrated amp, Goldenears Triton 7 speakers, RSL 10e subwoofer. I stream through Tidal and Qobuz.

I went from the DAC in the A6 to an external Gustard X16 DAC. To the Z10. And each change was a difference in sound and improvement in sound IMO.

Exit row seating hack

My wife and I just found this out recently and so far we've been able to use it every time we fly Southwest.

FYI: You must have the Southwest credit card.

Purchase your seats in the lowest class using your card and use the free upgrade to the next class of seating.

Wait until exactly 48 hours before your scheduled departure time then open the Southwest app and look for "upgrade seating".

If available(and so far ours has always been available) you can get free upgrades to the exit row seating and the seating class right before the exit rows.

Sorry if this has been posted before.

There goes my DAC plans!

I was planning on buying an external DAC to upgrade my Eversolo DMP-A6 streamer in my system. Just found out that Eversolo is coming out with a R2R DAC and DDC. I'm imagining how good that stack would look.

Maybe I'll wait a little while to see how much this new gear will cost.

Leave power amp on or off.

I have an older Rotel 5 channel power amp that I would like to start using with my living room HT system. But, the power amp does not have a trigger function to turn it on or off with the avr. And seeing how the family uses this room a lot for TV, movies, gaming. I know it will be a hassle and issue for them to turn the amp on and off manually each time.

Anyone here leave their amp on constantly?

Any issues or problems with leaving an older amp on all the time?

Any other solutions that I'm overlooking?

Thanks.

Opinions on PS Audio and Schiit DAC's

"EDIT" This post is just asking for opinions and discussions only!

I've read where both say that their DAC's aren't like traditional DAC's and they offer a unique sound and different characteristics from most other DAC's.

I interested to hear from others who have tried these DAC's to see how true those statements are.

Mac, ios issues

As an Android and Windows user, it seems like the majority of Tidal complaints come from Apple product users.

Maybe it's because of more Apple users, idk. But I don't see nearly as many Android and Windows users complaints. I wonder has Tidal looked at their data to see if in fact Apple products have more issues with the Tidal app.
