Ship time

Hey all

I received my shipping notice yesterday and it is through Asendia. When I look at the tracking page my tracking number says “fed ex” and when I click it it just opens an asendia page that’s asking for a tracking number?

I’ve gathered from the “discourse” (tm) that you all hate this service. I’m here however just to ask like what’s yr experience how long does shipping take? lol I get that we hate the service I’m just looking to understand time frames.

Store single policy

I went to an lgs today to try and buy singles and I go there about an hour after they opened. There were 2 other customers in the store and none were talking to staff or were at the counter. One of three or four workers approached me as I was at the counter he asked me if he could help me and I said that I had some singles I wanted to pick up and held up a list of about 8 cards. He immediately said he could only pull 2 for me because they are super busy on the weekends and if I wanted them all I should leave the store and place an online order. I get the store policy, and also can see that it’s probably more for say a Saturday afternoon when they’re hosting games, but honestly this was terrible customer service and kinda makes me ask questions like why does this store even sell singles then? Aside from that the online ordering leaves a lot to be desired. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a full list of cards from them out of an online order and you usually don’t know until youve gone into the store to pick up. Just kinda a waste of my morning but I found all the singles and more on card kingdom so whatever.

I am however curious if anyone has encountered this at your LGS?

Fire?

Working at home today and I could smell what I assumed was a wood or small garbage fire and over the course of the last 20mins it’s gotten much stronger and the sky has smoke in it?

In the king mountain area. Any ideas? Kinda concerned a firework has lit something on fire lol

Also I tagged this as weather? Idk are fires weather events? Lmao

Retaliation for looking for a new job in trial service?

hey guys. I am in a trial service position and have only been there for 3 or so months. I have 10 years with the state and I know that this is a precarious place to be in, particularly at a new agency. I interviewed for a job at my old agency that 1. looks more fun and 2. doesnt require a particularly heinous commute to Olympia to sit in a room for 30mins of team building every week.

I did NOT list my current supervisor as a reference, but they had me sign that god awful reference check sheet that allows them to call whoever they want... well... they decided to send a reference request to my current supervisor. This has opened a can of worms for me and so I think I might just like brain dump questions and if anyone has any insight I would appreciate it.

  1. in my conversation with my current supervisor I explained I interviewed for the spot because I knew a few ppl on the team and found them to be good coworkers and they encouraged me to apply. She replied to this by saying "well if you can try to reach out to those friends of yours to make sure you're the top candidate that might be a good idea. I dont want to have to let you go if you dont have a job to go to." And um that gave me the chills, so I am curious what do I need to look out for regarding documentation, trial service separation, and that whole ball of wax? Honestly if the writings on the wall I am fine to check out while the paperwork processes. This does however feel unfair and threatening.
  2. My supervisor sent me an email, to my personal email, that seemed to document the conversation we had today. She brought up how to request time off to do interviews, and said a few things that make it sound like she suspects I am doing more than just interviewing on my lunch. For this one, I am fine to ignore this and play dumb because it went to my personal email right? There was no read receipt requested. Also a follow up email like this is her building a paper trail to trial service separate me or do we think its a game of CYA?

Thanks in advance, and hopefully none of this matters by the end of the week because I will get a job offer. lol.

Edit/update: a few hours later she sent me a copy of my position description and asked me to sign it because she “forgot to do it in March when I started” this feels bad lol.

Reversion during trial service

Howdy all,

I am curious how reverting to an old position when you are in trial service works? Is this even possible if you have changed agencies?

I believe if you are not jiving with the new position you have the right to ask to go back to your old one? Correct me if I am wrong. Also again does changing agencies complicate things? For example if you left ESD to go to DSHS would you be able to go back to ESD? Or perhaps if you left HCA to go to HCLA would you be able to go back to HCA?

Thank you in advance, this might be a hyper niche and weird ask but I am trying to get the best info I can for a new coworker. :)

MTG ?

Yes there is Cardhaven, Aegis, PoD, and Cosmic with regular magic nights but I am curious if there are any bars or breweries, etc etc that host magic? I respect the sweats who play at card shops I just am looking for something more relaxed and casual.

Ty in advance :3

Is this a sign?

Started with HCA a few months ago, I am about halfway through my trial service period. I’ve been a state employee for over a decade but this is my first time with HCA.

I have received basically no feedback on my performance from my lead worker, and my supervisor and I have spoken for a total of 30mins including my onboarding meeting and a single “standing” 1-1 that never recurred. What I’ve received are small written corrections by email and a number of verbal kudos.

The silence is making me feel a bit insane, and I am nervous to ask for a meeting that’s based around “give me feedback,” more from just the unknown than fear I’m going to get something negative back.

Idk I’m already looking for new work more because I don’t really like the work or agency culture. But I’m curious, is this silence a sign? A sign of a bad manager? A sign of a bad culture? A sign there gonna can me when trial service is over? Idk it all just seems weird.

Also I went with the hiring/recruitment tag because the only thing in the HCA tag right now is a callout post directed at HR and I don’t want to be associated with that lmaoooo

jocelyns fucking crashing out in america #27 feat Jocelyn.wav HAS ARRIVED!

I first discovered Joc's music surfing my IG stories when I found quite the talented piano player spinning the most beautiful melodies on her story. I had the privilege of inviting Jocelyn to play in the dream stream series and her set is still one of my favorite and perhaps the most intimate sets we did. In the last year or so Joc's sound has developed and grown in a number of fascinating, gritty, and distinctive directions.

Jocelyn.wav is a truly rhizomatic artist, her capacity to play with form, function, style, and aesthetic are truly a cut above. This mixtape churns and roils from chiptune soundscapes, to incredibly sharp electro/fidget house, before giving way to some of the most interesting walls of experimental sound in pop music this side of CRANK. That's not to say this whole mixtape is a runaway train of ragers and blissed out party moments, there are a number of moments of respite, and introspection. A few that brought a tear to this old queerdo's eyes upon listening, "I go back to home where I roam, my parents know who I really am," hit me like a ton of bricks. Joc's mixtape in many ways soundtracks the queer experience from moments of bliss, whimsy and strangeness to anxiety inducing, thrill seeking drops and synth lines the development of this mixtape is in and of itself a queer journey.

Daring, sharp, unique, and cohesive are the words that come to mind when thinking about this project form Jocelyn.wav. If you want to hear more, or simply want to dive deeper into the jocelynverse be sure to follow u/jocelyn.wav as well as u/jocelyn.is.online. Dont forget to keep your eyes out for AMERICAN CRASHOUT due out May 24th from Jocelyn.wav.

Private meeting question

Howdy all!

I am applying for jobs and haven’t had the full conversation about this with my leadership. I have an interview and was sent an outlook invite.

My supervisor an lead worker have “view all details” permissions in outlook.

If I mark this invite/meeting as private how much information will be viewable to my supervisor and/or lead worker?

The appointment is titled “(position) interview”
