Hi team. So I have a decent collection of vintage Gillettes at this point (1920s Old Type, New Improved, New Long Comb, Gold Fat Handle Tech, 70s Tech, various Super Speeds and a Black Beauty) as well as a few modern razors (Henson Mild, Parker Semislant).
The Old Type is by far and away my favorite, but I'm not sure why.
Granted it has zero blade gap, how is it still so efficient and smooth at the same time? Yes, there is some blade feel, but I find it very mild and forgiving with weepers being extremely rare. What other aspects are at play here that are different from other Gillettes and modern razors?
I’m a younger dead head and was always curious. Is there a universal response folks give when a fellow head compliments a hat or shirt you’re wearing?
Always love when an old head is shocked or impressed when wearing GD stuff but plenty of times they assume I have no idea their music (understandably so)
