We had a small water leak in our kitchen. I exposed the pipe, which ran from the bathroom upstairs to the main drain, then replaced a bad coupling.
However now I have a hole in the wall and the ceiling. The ceiling fix seems straight forward, get a sheet 5/8 dry wall, tape, mud, sand, paint.
The wall however is my issue. Seems like there was 2 layers of 1/2 wall board covered by a layer of 1/4” laminate. I think I can use the same 5/8” dry wall underneath, but how do I fix the seems when patching the laminate? Do I patch just the hole or cut a straight line across the whole face and replace a long section that fits the wall?
Thanks in advance.
These were golden teacher that started well but now are getting covered in white fuzz. Are they salvageable?
Since yesterday, I can get any show in Archive.org to play in my iPhone regardless of whether I use Safari or Chrome. Anyone else having issues?
Just moved these from a bag into a tub and they’re going nuts.
What is my timing and tell tales for harvesting. Thanks.
Had a 5’x5’x1’ shipping crate that I couldn’t figure out how to store so I turned it into a pond.
Dug a hole, filled it with gravel and placed the crate in the middle atop some concrete pavers.
Bought a liner from Amazon, along with a solar pump/filter, plants from both local nurseries, our yard, and online, then built a surround out of left over trim boards.
Collected fallen trees limbs and rocks dug up from other projects to wrap the whole thing.
Pretty darn happy with the end result, even have a frog in residence.
In our solarium, as in the rest of the house, we have hot water radiant heat with copper pipes. Three winters ago, we shut of that zone to save on oil. But when out old oil boiler acted up, the service company opened the valves, causing 6 blowouts when hot water hit the frozen pipes.
This Spring, we replaced out old boiler with a new propane system so I decided to fix those blow outs.
Currently, there is no water in that zone, and I have cut out the damaged pipe sections, and replaced the small sections with PEX Oxygen barrier tubing and Sharkbite connectors.
I’m a little hesitant to open up the valve to that zone in case something fails. What can I do as a precaution? Wrap each repaired section in a towel and put catch basins below? Also, should I slowly open the valve until the zone is full?
Thanks.
Just created this little watering hole and though it’s not done yet, a new friend showed up yesterday who thinks it’s just great.
SE CT - One of my favorite sections is this absolute explosion of QAL. It looks like a photo taken by Hubble or the JWST of distant galaxies.
Are these cocoons on my bee balm plants?
The leaves seem twisted and appear to be harboring something.
This little baby was a foundling on our property which I rescued from some honeysuckle overgrowth and replanted two years ago.
It has mostly been a mix of red and green, but today I notice a big fat cluster of new bright red leaves.
Ideas?
Hey there - going on 5 years since my SDH and I’ve learned to deal with most issues, usually involving mental and physical fatigue.
Recently, I’ve occasional experienced what i’m calling sparklevision. It’s similar to a floater in my eye, except it sparkles, like i’m looking at a strand of white LED lights. It starts on the left edge of my vision and slowly floats across to the right edge. Thing is, if I close either or both eyes, the sparkles persist, making me think it’s inside my brain.
It doesn’t seem to be a precursor to a migraine and usually resolves after a few uncomfortable minutes.
Have any of you experienced anything similar? If so, does it have a real name?
When I planted this last year, it was a bit of a Charlie Brown JM.
Not this year. The pictures don’t do it justice - it’s almost blue in some parts.
My blood good is sprouting seed pods. Do I collect them and make saplings?
