Strong body jerks/movements - energy release ?

So I think I just need some reassurance that I’m not losing my mind or suddenly possessed.
This April I suddenly got very sick - body and mind hit a wall and something broke inside of me after years and years of pushing through a long list of debilitating physical ailments and trauma. I’ve been basically housebound since with severe fatigue that kept me in bed feeling like I was dying, and 1 month ago it clicked that this may be my body’s way of saying « enough now, you must rest and reconnect with yourself ».

So I started journaling, feeling my emotions instead of intellectualising them, retraining my brain trough Pain Processing Therapy. I’ve had a few big emotional releases with lots of crying, anger, etc you name it. 2 weeks in, I was lying on my yoga mat after one of these sessions and my body started making some very clear and strong movements that were NOT of my own doing. Neck moving to uncomfortable angles, shaking, body contorting side to side. Didn’t last long and I pretty naturally thought « this is energy release ».

Now, today, after having had a massive breakthrough with my fatigue (left the house for 2h which felt impossible even just 2 days ago, because I kindly worked with my brain and reassured it I could do this), I was so elated. So happy that I’m finally starting to see progress. I then lied down around 6ish to rest.

I started connecting with my breath, and felt something happen in my leg and just let my body do what it needed to do. However; this time was on a whole other level.

2 HOURS of my body just … moving, contorting, shaking, tensing, releasing. The most insane movements that I wouldn’t even think of doing consciously. Some emotion came up but nothing overwhelming. I got really really really hot towards the end. I didn’t dare interfere or « stop » as I thought if I’m being gifted with a healing I need to let it run its course but it was so long and so crazy. I had plenty of random thoughts, some light, some dark, which scared me so I kept repeating I am love and light and asking to be protected. But I stayed with my body til it came to a natural conclusion, my hands on my solar plexus and pelvis.

I came out of this in a total daze evidently and just thinking « what the absolute f*ck was that ». It’s sort of scared me and it’s not something you can tell a random friend without sounding like you’ve lost the plot.

Has this happened to anyone ?
I’ve had multiple energy healers in the past tell me I have a gift but never felt anything ever.
Could it be connected ?

Thanks !!

Is this severe burn out or cfs ?

I have had chronic severe eczema since forever and 5 years ago I stopped being able to sleep. Went through a really tough depression for a year and emotionally , but sleep never came back. I’ve been running on 0-5h a night for years, sometimes multiple sleepless nights in a row. Tried meds, none worked.

So took the CBT-I advice of “don’t obsess over insomnia and just go live life”. I work, have great friends and family, picked up hiking on holidays, which I love - hiked 300km across the UK over 18 days on little sleep but felt elated, did the West Highland Way over 8 days … still, sleep never healed even with such detachment.

I think the bad eczema and the bloody effort it takes to look presentable to the world with it (showers, creams, make up, covering clothes) along with general anxiety just kept me in a state of constant hyper vigilance and hyper arousal, reinforced by sleep deprivation.

Fast forward April 2026, exhaustion has started creeping up on me. And I’m used to feeling exhausted as I barely sleep, but this feels different. It’s like there’s no adrenaline to help me push through. But those moments come and go. I travel a lot for work (that I love), and come spring, I really need a break.

I take a week off work and go abroad to hike. Sleep bad, drive 4h, and then do a 5h hike. Typing it out, sounds stupid, but I’ve been so capable of pushing through tiredness to do life that it didn’t cross my mind to take it easy. I just wanted to clear my head.

I get to the top of the mountain after
2h and get hit with a wall of extreme exhaustion and dizziness. I lie down and have a snack. It momentarily passes but I barely make it back down. The next few days are HORRIBLE. Full body pins and needles, weakness, can barely feel my limbs, total exhaustion and panic. I take some benzos thinking “you’re just tired and panicking”. I fly back home and barely make it without fainting. 2 days later, I end up at the ER. They keep me 5 days in hospital and run all the tests. I’m weak, dizzy, vertigo, can barely walk.

They release me saying it’s a vestibular issue. I go see and ENT who says “could be”. A week later, I go to vestibular rehab and the PT clearly says he can’t see any lingering symptoms and doesn’t think that’s it.

Have run all the tests: extensive bloodwork, brain and body scan, ecg - nothing pops up apart from high cortisol.

It’s been 2 months now off work. I feel so weak, I’m mainly housebound, some days bedbound. Lifting arms is difficult, walking is difficult, I feel so heavy and my energy is none existent. I’m still sleeping very little which isn’t helping. I can make food and eat and that’s about it. My ears are ringing, my gut is all over the place, and I just feel so exhausted as if I’m dying. 2 months in, I actually feel worse I think. I’m trying not to push at all but I feel like a vegetable rather than in a “relaxing” state. It’s a type of exhaustion that cant be understood by people who just feel “tired”. It’s like my internal battery is completely and utterly fried.

Given all the tests that come back clear, Doctor suggested it could be deep physical burnt out.

Has anyone ever had this ? Does it get better ? I’m scared and even more scared when I read about chronic fatigue syndrome…

Thanks for taking the time to read me 🙏🏻
