UVB recs fo Boog

Boog has pretty dark eyes, presumably black, but real light skin. I have both the recommended 10.0 13W UVB bulb, and the 5.0 26W UVB bulb from the pacman care recs on standby. which bulb would be best?

questions before purchasing a little guy!

really just a few atm, but very important ones!

- how do i prevent any mold from growing in a non-bioactive tank? worried the moisture and heat will be a breeding ground after a week

- how do i wash/sanitize items (i.e. hides, wood, water dish, plastic plants) before setting up the tank?

- should i set up and wait a few days before getting a frog and putting them in? see if the parameters are steady?

- is distilled water ok to use? was thinking about purchasing a few gallons and reusing the jugs after they’re all gone, with reverse osmosis water or conditioned water.

- is the 10.0 UVB 13 watt bulb on the UVB guide correct? there’s a 5.0 version, which seems less harsh.

Worried about getting a little guy for myself

I would love love LOVE to have a pacman frog, i’ve been doing hours of research, and I’ve always loved the idea of having a grumpy little guy to coexist with, and see him tear a innocent bug to shreds lol.

Issue is, I have seasonal depression. I’m a genuine rockstar in the summer, but always fall behind in the winter, typically around 2-3 months. I know for a fact I can take really good care of one now, but I’m worried if my seasonal depression gets bad ever again, I won’t be able to give one the care it really deserves.

I’ve been doing a lot better in recent years tho! haven’t truly “slumped” in 4 years and counting! occasional depressive weeks here and there, but i’m on medication that’s incredibly helpful for me. I didn’t fall behind AT ALL like i used to last winter, so I’m on the up and up. and i have a tentative confidence that i can stay strong this next upcoming season. but i’m just really doubting myself when it comes to bringing an animal into the mix.

i do have a contingency plan if i get one and it gets bad. i’ve discussed with my mother “what happens if it gets bad,” and she’s agreed to help with care if it comes down to it. i just don’t know if that’s fair to rope someone else into coparenting for 3 or so months. i am so so paranoid it’ll happen all over again, and the poor thing will be caught in the crossfire.

I’ve done loads of research, and am willing to spend a pretty decent amount for all suitable stuff. i guess i’m just getting in my head and worried the perfect setup and contingency plan won’t be enough if i get into another slump.

i think i can do it, i really do. but the paranoia won’t leave me alone.

IDK WHAT I’M DOING

(FIRST 2 PICS RIGHT AFTER THE SALON, LAST 2 AFTER HAIR MASK AND STYLING A BIT AT HOME)

(reupload cuz i forgot to cover my face)

i recently started trying to take care of my curly hair like it wants, as i got my hair dyed calico, and it’s gonna need some extra TLC to be happy. it’s unfortunately been genuine frizz central. Hair feels like straw now, and IDK why the back is so frizzy after styling, but not the front??

purchased all the recommended products from the salon to start:
- Aveda Botanical Repair Shampoo + the Conditioner
- Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening Masque (Light, recommended every week-2 weeks as needed)

Trying to style with:
- Leaf Flower Instant Curl Defining Cream (salon rec)
- Curl Unbrush
- Diffusing the roots, light diffuse on the ends
- Air dry the rest of the way
- (routine recommended by stylist)

GOAL IS:
- know how to style my hair properly, front AND back
- figure out a low effort, work days routine, willing to put in an hour or two on Sundays before the work week to prep
- get the frizz manageable! a little is ok, but this feels excessive

(I used to wash my hair with Native 2-in-1 (i avoid sulfates like the plague) whenever it got oily, before getting it dyed, so i was pretty low maintenance)

what I would like to know:
- what bonnet brand/type is good for what my hair is?
- should i stick with these products and see how my hair does? any other recs?
- what should a general routine look like day to day, throughout the week?
- any tutorials y’all can recommend

TLDR: dyed my hair, trying to keep it happy, and have no clue what i’m doing anymore. any help appreciated 😭

Driving experience at the track BEFORE this August

My dad and uncle are incredibly close, and my uncle has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. My dad mentioned booking my uncle a super car experience at the track, but I want to get something for BOTH of them to be able to experience it together. The issue is, the cancer has become resistant to the current chemo, so they have to swap it up. The concern is that he won’t have enough strength to do it by the time August rolls around.

Does anyone know if there’s a chance to book something like this sooner rather than later?

is kitty dilute?

howdy guys! i’ve had callie (unique, i know, i was 10) for over a decade, but never really thought much about her markings until i heard dilute calico was a thing. she’s always been a dark grey, never that stark black i see with a lot of other calicos. i simply don’t care all that much, she’s a bitch, i love her, and that will not change, but it would be a cool fun fact to know about her!

other fun facts about her:

- we no longer call her callie. it is cal, cat, or bitch. depending on mood
- i once saw her eat a mouse she found in 5 seconds flat. it was a terrifying display of greed.
- one night as a kid, i was on family computer. there was a scary, loudly buzzing flying insect in the corner of the room by her cat door. i did not want to pass the bug for fear of retribution. after a few minutes of terror on my end, she poked her front half out of the cat door, proceeded to eat the bug, then retreat back into the garage. it was fucking rad.
