first time blowing a tire ಠ_ಠ (smacked a curb at 42mph)

welp. i guess my first time was a 2-in-1 since i actually blew two tires (front and rear on the right side). i hit the curb trying to avoid getting sideswiped by a honda fit (<-map/diagram included on second slide for clarity, description’s in the comments)

back tire’s pics 4-5, rest of the pics are of the front tire. the car’s miraculously fine at a glance + the airbags never went off, pre-collision assist never activated, and the only thing that lit up on the dash was a low psi warning.

no fluid leaks, no weird smells, no outer body damage aside from the front right wheel and no underbody damage that i can see. control arms were visually intact, nothing looked broken/warped. still going to check the alignment and suspension and etc. for unseen micro-damages. i’m just really grateful that nothing’s visibly broken/misshapen + i got to walk away unscathed.

still kind of in shock tho, i’ve never blown a tire before. i know almost everyone blows a tire at some point so i might be overreacting 😵‍💫 i’m just really torn over it. i know i got the best-case scenario in a lose-lose situation, but i’m still kicking myself because i wouldn’t have been in that situation to begin with if i wasn’t such an impatient mf ಥ_ಥ i should’ve just crawled behind the honda fit and taken a detour at the next intersection.

bad parkers stick together apparently

the space with bmw’s left side was completely empty btw, no one over the line.
