Upgrading from LCD Steam Deck to Lenovo Legion Tab G3 + GameSir G8 for Moonlight streaming—is it worth it?

Hi everyone,

I’ve owned a non-OLED Steam Deck since launch a couple of years ago. As a new parent, my gaming habits have shifted completely—these days I find myself using Moonlight to stream games from my main rig to the Deck on the couch way more than playing anything natively.

Because streaming is 90% of my use case, I’ve been considering switching to a dedicated tablet setup to get a better screen, higher resolution, and higher refresh rates.

I’ve come across the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 (FIFA Edition / Global) on sale in my country for 40% off. Bundling the tablet with a GameSir G8+ controller comes out to right around $700 AUD total.

Before pulling the trigger, I’d love to hear from anyone with experience using this specific setup:

  • How noticeable is the jump from 800p/60Hz on the LCD Deck to 2.5K/165Hz on the 8.8" panel for streaming?
  • How does the weight, balance, and pick-up-and-play convenience compare when parenting duties call?
  • Overall, is it a night-and-day upgrade for dedicated Moonlight use, or am I better off sticking with the Deck?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Those that miss their New World fix - give the Soulframe early access ago

Hey All,

I recently picked up a Soulframe early access code by watching the dev stream. While I’m a big fan of the Warframe game loop, I find the ultra fast paced combat and sci-fi theme isn’t my thing.

This is where Soulframe comes in clutch for me. It has a fun, engaging and repeatable gameplay loop while having slow-paced new world-like combat.

The engine is incredibly fleshed out because of warframes history and theres next to no bugs.

Anyway, just thought I’d suggest this for anyone missing new worlds exploration and combat or for anyone in an mmo lul.

Yes, I’m well aware it’s not full fletched mmo but I find the game play loop and progression to be very mmoish

Best method of dual booting windows and bazzite?

Hi All,

I currently have a 1.8TB OS Drive, 4TB Gaming Drive and a 2TB Data Drive.

I'm considering dual booting windows with bazzite but I want to find a way to share the games on my 4TB gaming drive. I've done some research and it appears NTFS is rubbish with proton and BTRFS is the way to go.

If I backup my gaming drive, format it as BTRFS then restore the games, will this work?

How can I get windows to work with BTRFS as well for playing anti-cheat games? I saw a tool called WinBTRFS but it hasn't had an update on GitHub for some time.

Thanks

Best device to leave in my vehicle glove box?

Hi Guys,

I know I could probably ask AI this but I’m after experiencing and information from people specifically in this subreddit.

Now I have a decent head unit in my vehicle which supports HDMI input and a cigarette lighter for consistent 12 volts.

I’m looking for a small but reliable device to leave in my glove box to occasionally use during lunch time stops etc for entertainment. I’ve heard the Amazon fire is no longer allowing your own apps. Does the ONN offer a smaller device like this?

Any recommendations appreciated.
