What kind of wood is this?
Got this from the side of the road, split very easy

I often see people online and on this subreddit questioning why Luke would let Tom do YouTube and be so heavily involved if he wanted to leave the spotlight.
I think the spotlight was one part of it but another was he was being forced to spend so much time every week/other week outdoors filming, but not really enjoying the process of being outdoors.
Now Tommy makes the vids (and I’m sure Luke does a lot of the work) when they’re all doing these things as a family, not because you have to hit a weekly or bi weekly quota the enjoyment is there
Looking to upgrade my sleeping bag for something that will be warm enough on cool summer nights and ideally good enough for some fall and spring camping.
The price point is right for me so looking to see if anyone had experience with it
I’ve heard some issues with the pole inserts, wondering if these are a problem with the aluminum or just the carbon
I want to get the x dome 2 for my first backpacking tent. But I am concerned with durability, my understanding is that the solid is 20d floor instead of 15.
Is the extra floor protection worth it for the added durability? I also plan to use it with the ground sheet
So I posted before about picking between tents. I’ve come down now to two options after research and from all the comments etc.
I’m between the Nemo dagger/dragonfly 3p or the durston x dome 2.
Concerns are durability with the durston.
I want something weather proof and that will last me a long time
Right now I am between these two rifles
CVA cascade sr 80 308
Ruger American scout gen 2 308
I like the scout rifle concept for its lightweight design and shorter barrel for use in the back country, also as an alternative “battle rifle” considering we can’t get AR 10s anymore.
Biggest factor leaning me to the Ruger now is the full length rail, non proprietary mag, and shorter barrel
Super random but I was splitting wood today and I’m 95% sure it’s red oak. And it has a very noticeable smell of BBQ sauce, anyone else ever notice this?
I booked a trip to waikiki during a jellyfish warning in September (3rd to 10th). I had no idea this was a thing to worry about until 2 weeks after booking finding out this happens. How screwed am I? Was planning on swimming, snorkeling, and surfing.
Made a post earlier this week asking if restoring this Walter’s axe off marketplace was worth it. Well most said it was so did it this weekend and super happy with it. Not perfect by a long shot, but happy with my first tool restoration.
Cleaned up the head
New handle 21 inches
Filed away mushrooming and fixed edge profile
New camping axe 🪓
So it’s been very difficult to decide on a hotel with all the options and my budget (CAD) I’ve narrowed it down to these 4 options
Out of all of these what would you all recommend?
So I’m between two options right now.
I found a deal from a private seller for 1100 rounds of 556 and 223. Totalling about 600 rounds of brass cased 556, and 500 rounds of steel cased 223 for 550.
And online FOC has 1000 rounds of green tip PMC 556 for about 625.
So deciding which option is better, private seller ammo was stored in its original boxes in the basement with a dehumidifier. FOC stuff is of course brand new.
What option would you guys pick?
Been doubling up with my walker muffs and walker foam plugs but my ear canals are small so I can’t get the foam plugs to seat properly.
Anyone have recommendations for good DB protection foam plugs for small ears
Looking at this axe on Facebook marketplace, I need a new camping axe and found this on FB. Have never restored a tool before and deciding if this is worth the effort to repair and how difficult it would be
I’ve got the camping bug (no pun intended) right now and want to check this park out ideally this month. Was just at silent lake this past weekend and the mosquitos were somewhat bad but manageable with a fire and thermacell.
Wondering how bad the bugs will be throughout this month and how the water quality is as I’ve read things about it being bad
Currently planning to get a tent for backpacking that will reduce my current size from my marmot tungsten 3p
My current options I’m considering are
Nemo Dagger Osmo 3p
Big Agnes copper spur
MEC spark 3
Marmot tungsten ultralight 3p
I want a free standing tent that will save me space in my pack
For those who have been here before what sites do you guys recommend as the best walk in sites
I know there are designated sites and first come first serve. How busy do these sites tend to get? Was planning to go next week potentially
Was looking to go here just wondering if it’s a particularly bad spot for ticks. Hate those things
Anyone have any experience with this Ammo? Wondering how bad/dirty it is for range practice
