Hello ladies,

As part of a North Indian wedding ceremony , the maama (my husband) needs to gift gold earrings, gold nose ring, gold chain, silver paayal and silver bichue to the bride. The parents said that 1 gram jewellery should suffice.

In addition to this, as per their tradition, we will need to give sarees and envelopes to 30 ladies and bedsheets and envelopes to 30 gents.

As this is for a distant relative (the bride hasn’t even visited us), we plan to include 10 rupees in Shagun envelopes. However, for the other items to be gifted - especially gold and silver jewellery, sarees and bedsheets, I am looking for budget/inexpensive/economical sources preferably from Delhi NCR or even online sources

I am not looking for advice on how to avoid this situation. I can’t. I am only looking for recommendations on where I can source these items at a low cost.

Hey everyone, i have secured a job in Wellington, and I will be shifting in June. I will be driving to Wellington and will carry my luggage in my car. Any suggestions on the following:

- I am single and I prefer to stay alone (not in a shared apartment). I am open to renting a 1 or 2 bedroom house (budget is approx 550 weekly). Which areas should I target and avoid? (I LOVE nature/trees/water body and I am okay to drive 15 min to the city center for my job from home if my place is at a nice serene but safe location)
- I assume I should be looking at trade me and marketplace for apartment search. Any other sources?
- In your opinion, should I go for an independent house or townhouses? (Sorry for TMI - but I prefer to install a jet in my toilet for obvious reasons and I am not sure if townhouses allow for that) 🙊 This is so embarrassing to share but it is one of my concerns
- Where do I get basic (affordable) furniture from - bed, mattress, dining table etc? I am thinking Ikea delivery (I guess it’s about $50) but not sure if locals have some affordable favourites tha I can look at in advance.
- Do people generally rent an airbnb while they are still new to a city in NZ and settling down and hunting for a good place to live in (and arrange all the basic requirements)?
- I assume I should look at marketplace for setting up my house (things I would require in addition to furniture).
- any other tips? Key considerations?

I have heard Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra should be one of the initial resources that I should read. Any others?
