Shooting stars or plane ?
I took some pictures of the sky with my phone.
On the first one I'm almost positive the dotted line in the top/ middle of the picture is a plane.
But on the second and third ones (top right corner on the 2nd, center/left on the 3rd) I'm not really sure. It seems to me they're shooting stars bc of the color and aspect of the line, but I don't know that much about astronomy despite a huge interest.
It's also only the 2nd time I try to take pictures of the night sky. Yesterday I didn't see these lines so it's not a default from my camera or else either since I had better conditions tonight (exact same place, though).
What do you think these lines are?
Night sky photos with my phone
I took some photos of the night sky with my phone and I'd like to know if I could have a better result with other settings than the current ones I use :
- "pro mode" from my phone camera ;
- long exposition (maybe 30sec) ;
- I don't have a tripod atm but I will and until then I put my phone on a table with only the button reachable from below, then I stop touching it.
My phone is a Xiaomi 13T pro.
I'm not a photographer, not even amateur. I just love stargazing.
Does anyone have advice ?
I can provide the photos I already took yesterday if you want to see where I'm at for now
(Sorry if I'm breaking the community's rules by posting this, I don't know where the line is drawn when it comes to asking questions 😅)
Do you witness the literacy crisis yourself?
I've seen a lot of videos on YouTube about how the Bush administration killed the education system in the USA with its "No child left behind" policy, and how it provoked a literacy crisis all across the country in the later.
Kids graduate without knowing how to read accordingly, whole books are not mandatory in the curriculum anymore, etc.
Is it exagerated online?
Is it really all across the country or only the poorest states maybe?
Can you see it yourself in everyday life if you don't have children or aren't a teacher? Like are some of you cashiers, waiters etc. and witness it daily? Just made me think, are some of you waiters and have seen young people struggling to read the menu??? Because I've seen videos of a guy handling a little piece of paper with something writen on it to highschoolers and most of them couldn't read it out loud without scattering at every single sillable. Well, then I saw another video of a way younger girl that wasn't able to read her mother's handwriting but could read the exact same sentence writen on a phone. So maybe these highschoolers had the same problem but even that is still scary as HELL.
I'm honestly really worried if that's the future of the leading world power.
The phenomenom doesn't seem to be globalized to other countries tho. Not in Europe, at least. But it is still pretty concerning.

Hello :)

I've been using a wheelchair since last fall. It's not a sad story don't worry. It's been quite helpful actually! As an added bonus, it obviously became my cat's wheelchair. He loves to cuddle when I sit on it but he doesn't usually like being held for too long. On the first pic you can see him getting comfortable with his little paws on my shoulder 🥹
And he spends most of his night beside my bed on the wheelchair. I think it's so cute, he's so supportive. And I had to share his cute pink and black toe beans
Edit: it's the first time i've seen a picture of him in my arms. It made me realize how itty bitty teeny tiny he is. Crying rn
What's the best episode to manipulate someone into liking New Girl?
My bestfriend doesn't like New Girl !!! And it's killing me
I've known him for 7 years now. So he trusts my taste and my judgement. I tried to watch the show with him multiple times, his ex also loved it and tried to convince him with me but he never got into it. It has nothing to do with his ex btw, I'm not cruel, he simply thinks it's more often cringy than funny. A point I can grasp since he first agreed to watch it around 2022, and I would imagine it had already been a little bit outdated. I think Jess really annoys him too
He did say he wanted to give it another shot, but skipping the first season. I told him it wasn't a bad idea because it's kind of like the Office. I didn't really like the first season until I first finished the whole show.
But I don't know if he'd enjoy Re-Launch (s2ep1) tho, as it mostly is a continuation of Season 1.
So maybe from Katie (s2ep2) ? The beginning of Jess' "Sam era" feels like an adequat fresh start
Let me know if you have any idea lol I feel like I'm rumbling and over explaining (its almost 6am where I live and heat is making me crazy) but the question still stands and context matters here 😂
Edit to clarify: he does love cringey tv shows. But he thinks the ratio isn't balanced enough in New Girl first szn. He actually laughs at later jokes, which makes him want to try the show again
Robbie is underappreciated
Apart from the very awful révélations on the hike, I really like Robbie and I think he's underrated. I was pleasantly surprised when he came back for season 6, but I wish he'd stayed a bit longer on the show. Too bad
PS: I love this scene. Very satisfying as a sitcom apologist
EDIT: I just found this old post about his inconsistency
Estrofuel ! Starring Donovan.
I love that scene because I think it suits Schmidt's character so well.
The "Bull" button
I'm rererewatching the show, currently watching "The Cubicle" (s6-ep12) and Winston gives Cece a buzzer that says "Bull" when you trigger it for her home office and I never understood why they all laugh. Am I missing something? Or is it funny just because it's nonsensical?
[discussion] wanting to start collage
Hello,
I'm currently on sick leave since november and there's no way to know when i'll get back to work. So, I'm obviously bored as hell. I've tried a lot of different hobbies : Legos = too expensive, crochet = not for me lol, gardening = too complicated because of my wheelchair, and so on.
I love visual arts and I always liked drawing, but I'm not very talented and kind of a perfectionist, which gets frustrating. (btw if you've got any tip regarding this, i'll take it too lol)
So I figured I could enjoy collage, since it doesn't really require any solid drawing skills. I also never really did collage (except maybe in school) so I think it could soothe me to start something from the very beginning.
Do you have any advice ? Like, what type of paper should I use to stick on? What type of glue? Where can I find cute pics, is it still a thing to collect newspaper and magazines? Is it better for a beginner to practice on paper or on some kind of software?
Edit: about newspaper and magazines, I feel like most of them are kinda ugly and not very illustrated, and when they are it's often some pic of the mayor's latest public appearence or random popstar gossip
Is Waffle House a UFC themed restaurant?
(Silly ass title. Don't mind me. I didn't know what else to say)
Hi, first of all and for context : I'm French, we don't even have Waffle House here.
But I watch a lot of american youtubers (such as Kurtis Conner, JT reacts, Chad Chad, Michelle Mana, brookeshark etc) and I've heard several times that people often fist fight at Waffle House and it seems like it's common knowledge all across the US
But.... Genuinely... Why is that? 😭
