i don’t think i’m made for this world

i’ve felt like this for a long time. i’m weird and off putting, im nonbinary kind of, kind of just a masculine girl, but i don’t really fit in with the LGBT crowd. pretty shy and introverted too. everyone i’ve ever liked hasn’t really been interested in me, and i had one boyfriend but he dumped me bc he was an avoidant prick. i dunno. i just see everyone around me, and they all have friend groups and are in relationships and i feel like that’s never something i’ll have. i don’t know what to do, and i don’t think i could be any other way than the way i am. i wish i was but i can’t. i’m not gonna kill myself or anything i don’t think i could do that to my family. it’s just hard i guess.

As a native English speaker this part has always kind of confused me. Is вы just for superiors/bosses/strangers? If you're talking to someone who is your age but you don't know would you still use вы? And then, as you're getting to know someone, when do you start calling them ты?
