Can we stop with those AUR script checkers?

Not a day goes by that not at least 3 vibe coded script checkers surface. It does not take much to have one of those scripts comprised causing more damage.

A question to the Arch maintainers (and sorry if I missed this information and this is happening): can’t we have a mechanism in pacman/paru/yay to check for anything being compromised and then just help the user to repair it?

Is there a reason that this can not be done?

Austrian Users (Fonira ISP): Are you blocked accessing F1TV (Apple TV / iOS)?

This is now the 2nd time in 4 months that my access has been blocked. Since I can connect via LTE/Mobile Data and not via my fibre-account through the Austrian ISP Fonira, this is a F1TV issue.

I am wondering if other users have similar problems. The last time I logged a support issue and it was resolved. I have yesterday submitted a new support issue and wait for a response.

I doubt my ISP can do anything about it.

Yuka Mini 2 1000 - edge trimming

Although I have mapped my garden that the Yuka should run along the edge and cuts grass, it leaves a consistent 5-10 cm gap. With my old wire based Gardena mower it managed to do this fine. I can not remap more as then the mower would drive partially over gravel / boundary stones. What is an option here?

How do you version / backup your config

At the moment I am doing timeshift and rsync to my Synology. As I am a laptop user, I trigger it manually.

Coming from Mac I was used to TimeMachine which did its thing in the background, didn’t add much overhead and resumed if interrupted or laptop went into suspend/shutdown.

What is your backup strategy and which tools do you use? For dotfiles I am starting to look at https://chezmoi.io/install/ but I also want to include certain system level configs (outside my home directory).

Any pointers would be helpful. Right now I am frequently circling back to old faithful rsync.

Hyprland 0.55 keybind does not launch librewolf on separate workspace

Prior to 0.55 I used this Keybind which launched Librewolf at a specific size/position with Youtube:

bind = Super Shift, W, exec, hyprctl dispatch workspace 6 && librewolf --new-window https://www.youtube.com & sleep 0.5 && hyprctl dispatch togglefloating && hyprctl dispatch resizeactive exact 1275 1383 && hyprctl dispatch moveactive exact 1279 199 # Youtube

I have now tried to convert it to LUA and this will not launch Librewolf on Workspace-6, but rather the current:

hl.bind("SUPER + SHIFT + W", hl.dsp.exec_cmd("librewolf --new-window https://www.youtube.com", { workspace = "6 silent", float = true, size = ({ 1275, 1383 }), move = ({ 1279, 199 }) }))

If I replace it with kitty, it works fine:
hl.bind("SUPER + SHIFT + W", hl.dsp.exec_cmd("kitty", { workspace = "6 silent", float = true, size = ({ 1275, 1383 }), move = ({ 1279, 199 }) }))

What am I doing wrong?

As the title states: can you link / recommend options from Europe. I nowadays see mostly travel bags but not backpacks with outer pockets.

I am not really interested in a “day backpack” to carry clothes etc, but rather something where I can store laptop, water bottle, glasses, umbrella etc

I am somewhat happy with this https://amzn.eu/d/0dJxx6Mk but dislike that the bottom feels flimsy / soft.
