Website templates vs AI: Which would you choose today?

Question for founders, freelancers, agencies, and web designers:

Do you think ready-made website templates will still be worth buying in 2026-2027, or will AI replace them?

AI website builders and design tools are improving incredibly fast, so I'm wondering how people see the next couple of years.

If you're building a website today, would you rather:

  • Buy a professionally designed template and customize it
  • Generate everything with AI
  • Use a mix of both

More importantly, why?

I'm genuinely interested in how your workflow has changed and whether your purchasing decisions have changed because of AI.

Is Anyone Else Seeing Webflow Marketplace Sales Decline?

I've been selling on the Webflow Marketplace, and over the past several months I've noticed a steady decline in sales.

There are also some ongoing issues that seem to be affecting creators:

  • Category pages have been broken for a while.
  • Many creators have reported these issues, but there hasn't been much visible action from the team.
  • Community forum topics are being created, but they often receive little or no response.
  • In the past, the Webflow Slack community seemed to get much faster responses from the team than the current community discussions.
  • Month after month, marketplace sales continue to decline.

I'm curious if other Marketplace creators are experiencing the same thing.

Have your sales dropped recently? Do you think it's because of the broken Marketplace experience, reduced traffic, or something else?

I'd love to hear your thoughts and hopefully get some visibility on these issues.
