Not the end of the season for DS9, but Voyager was about to close a chapter for its first two seasons with the Kazon. The idea of the crew being stranded on the planet, with their ship having been taken over by the big antagonist is a great idea of a cliffhanger on paper. But with the Kazon, it never felt as grand. They just didn’t really pan out as a memorable antagonist. Seska was a bit more of potentially compelling case, but having her at the side of the Kazon didn’t really compliment that. Now, imagine if it was the Jem’Hadar doing something like this, that feel more believable than these people who can’t produce water.

30 Years Ago: DS9’s “To the Death” and Voyager’s “Resolutions” aired on May 13th 1996

“To the Death” features the debut of Weyoun and a guest appearance by Clarence Williams III (!!!) as a Jem’Hadar teaming up with the DS9 crew to fight renegade Jem’Hadar. What’s not to love?

“Resolutions”… kind of a Janeway/Chakotay tease that goes nowhere. Skippable.

Not a remarkable DS9 entry, but “The Thaw” is easily one of my absolute favorite Voyager episodes. Michael McKean makes a great one off villain and that final scene between him and Janeway is chilling.
