Will McNeil bb aka bore buddy

All will be well. No more complaints—I think we all understand each other now. I’m not going anywhere, and I stand by what I’ve said.
Hopefully this barrel really is the Toyota of barrels. At this point, all I’m looking for is reliability with .22 LR. Looking back, I’m not sure why I bought the $325 barrel in the first place. I already have a 21” .17 HMR that’s a much better shooter. Sometimes you buy things thinking you’ll save them for a future project, and it doesn’t always work out the way you planned.

I guess I’ll be happy ringing steel and punching paper out to 50 yards with this setup. At the end of the day, reliability is what matters most to me. I’ll also continue buying bolt weights from BoreBuddy for my Super Safety builds since they’ve worked well for what I’m trying to accomplish.

Suppressed with a binary - Tippman M4-22 Elite

This is my buddy shooting my gun, first 4-5 rounds were hyper velocity (1260fps) then the next 15 were Eley Subsonic.

Tippman Arms M4-22 Elite. It’s an 11in barrel with a Franklin Arms binary and a Angstadt Arms Reticent 22 Suppressor. The suppressor isn’t rated for full auto so in between mag dumps like this I let it cool quite a bit but it does cool very quickly. I had some problems with the binary for a little while but Tippman Arms customer service and gun smith team walked me through some trouble shooting and helped me get it working correctly.

I primarily shoot cci, eley and some federal if the others are out of stock or price is too high. Never had a jam or anything with the exception of when I had first installed the binary trigger but that was fully on my as I didn’t follow Tippmans instructions correctly and didn’t use the stock spring. Once that was fixed I never had a problem!

☝️ borebuddy part required

The last two magazines of the 5 I had.

The BCG is a stock RTB unit. I replaced the firing pin spring with a standard AR bolt catch spring because it feels much softer.

For the AR-22 trip, I’m using a Deez Nuts Tactical trip, but I modified it to be flatter and less angled than the factory design.

The only BoreBuddy part I’m running is the weight system. I increased the total weight to 1.97 oz using two BoreBuddy weights combined with custom lead weights I made myself.

This was my fifth magazine I only recorded the last 2

Another free gun range👌🏾

I found another hidden gem of a shooting range. I like searching for public gun ranges, wildlife management areas, and free shooting spots within about two hours of me, and this one was pure bliss. The scenery was beautiful, and the range was a joy to shoot at. They already had targets set up—all you need to bring is some stickers or paint.

I wanted to show off my latest AR-22 build. I was running a mix of CCI Stingers, CCI Punch, CCI Mini-Mags, Aguila, and even some old Federal ammo. Every now and then I’ll get a hiccup from the ammo, but the pistol runs like a top overall.

I just cleaned her up a couple nights ago, but I can’t seem to keep my hands off her private parts. Hehe 🙃

Last post on bb🤞🏾I don’t care if I get $100 store credit take it

Excuse the wifey, we’re having triplets soon 😍.

Yes, I did make some minor modifications to the barrel, but those modifications did not create or fix the issue. I’ve owned this barrel for over a year and a half, and the problem has been there from the beginning.

The main issue appears to be the chamber. It will run CCI Standard Velocity fine for the first 15–30 rounds, but once it heats up, extraction and chambering problems start. Rounds either fail to extract properly or don’t fully seat in the chamber.

If you look closely after shooting, the barrel is shaving material off the bullets instead of seating them cleanly. It’s also chewing up the brass, which leaves brass and lead debris in an already tight chamber and only makes the problem worse.

I’m not trying to be the guy who complains about products. If it had worked properly from day one, I never would have touched it I would be loving this barrel. I’ll post pictures of my other AR-22 setups that run without these issues. As a matter of fact, after I take my kids swimming, I’m heading to an outdoor range for more testing. No indoor ranges for me—just open air and real-world testing.

22LR trips and weight carrier on sale at Dnt 37usd

Just a heads-up: you don’t have to drop $100 right now with the communists lol. Jokes aside, I have two of these carriers—both aluminum versions—and both of mine have been tested and run reliably. I literally paid $150 for two of them last month, so at this price it’s a steal.

I actually made another purchase from Deez Nuts Tactical today because I need to swap my other 22lr Atrius setup over to a Super Safety.

I’ve run both systems, and I’m telling you this from experience—not from a profit standpoint—the Super Safety is better and much easier to tune. If you’re looking for something that’s almost plug-and-play, go with the Super Safety.

That said, I’m not going to lie: the Rise Armament trigger paired with the Atrius feels pretty solid. But I can almost guarantee you’ll get a Super Safety running exactly how you want it much quicker and with less hassle.

If you enjoy tinkering, experimenting, and tuning your setup, then the Atrius and BoreBuddy combination might be more your style. Both can work, but for simplicity, ease of tuning, and getting up and running faster, I’d choose the Super Safety every time.

No bore buddy part required

It’s now running 100% reliably with zero BoreBuddy parts. I swear to God.
I’ll post pictures in my next update.
There were two key changes that made it work:
Use a bolt catch spring as the firing pin spring.
If you don’t believe it, compare the spring tension yourself if you have a spare bolt catch spring lying around.
Cut two coils off the standard CMMG recoil spring.
The factory spring was simply too strong for my setup.
Also, credit where it’s due:
JP Enterprises — their 3.5 lb trigger springs work great.
Deez Nuts Tactical — fast shipping, and their trip and bolt weight system works pretty well along with their super safety kit.
One thing I discovered is that you can’t run lead weights by themselves with the Deez Nuts Tactical bolt weight carrier. There’s a gap between the weight and the bolt carrier, and the lead can get smashed into that gap, preventing proper buffer movement.
My solution was to place lead weight at the rear and use two steel weights up front. Since making that change, the system has been running reliably.
