Would I have enough experience as an APM to start looking for PM roles?

For some context I have about 4 years and 4 months of SAAS experience at the same company across customer success (2 years 3 months) and as an APM (2 years and 1 month). At some companies apparently that’s a bit long as an APM but I’d say roughly 2.5+ years is average here to spend as an APM given that it’s a large slow moving company.

Ideally I want to stay til I hit either 3 years as an APM or get promoted to PM here but there is a decent chance my fiancee may get a job in another city soon. Ideally I wouldn’t want to do LDR for a long time and am wondering if I theoretically started applying in a month would PM roles be possible? Or would I still be looking at entry level and hack it out by any means necessary especially given the market atm

Sentenced- Capture of Fire

Finally got around to listening to this album in full and I have no idea why it’s not referenced in the genre as a founding staple as much as Carcass Heartwork. It came out the same year and damn near close to as good imo. It eclipses the first 3 At The Gates albums by a long shot in early melodeath imo. The fact this came out six years before Hatebreeder which is one of my favorite albums all time is insane. Hatebreeder is clearly extremely inspired by this stuff

Any other bands old or new that have the same dark thrash sound as Kreator/Slayer?

I listened to a lot of thrash growing up but mainly stuck to the classics like big 4 and occasionally branched out to things like Evile. Basically worshipped Megadeth for a good chunk of my life. These days I don’t listen to too much thrash I’ve been on a big Kreator kick lately and their darker melodeath/black metal inspired stuff definitely is more interesting to me than a lot of thrash out there. Of course OG Slayer is great for that as well. Any other good recs?

Edit: really appreciate all the recs!

So apparently I have slept on Bathory

I haven’t been very into black metal for too long because a lot of the classic stuff I couldn’t get into. Eventually from branching out from melodeath very specific kinds of meloblack became some of my favorite metal out there (Dissection, Sacramentum, Stormkeep, some WITTR, Blackbraid, Moonlight Sorcery, Windir) etc.

So obviously I kept hearing Bathory as foundational in the area and have been wafering because a lot of the early Norwegian stuff wasn’t really my thing like Emperor/Mayhem/Darkthrone/Burzum. Finally decided to dive in and holy crap. Hammerheart and Blood Fire Death blew me away. Under the Sign of the Black Mark was very good too. Can’t wait to keep listening to their albums. The songwriting and atmosphere for the time is absolutely elite.

If you like Blood Incantation-Absolute Elsewhere you will like Inanna-Converging Ages

Recently listened to both of these in full since I’ve been meaning to for a long time now. But while Blood Incantation is circle jerked to Hell and beyond on this sub I hardly hear about this one. I only knew it from a Metal suggestions post I made a while back where it was the top rec. And honestly they both scratch the same itch. Personally I preferred the Blood Incantation album but it’s a coin flip. This one had better riffs and bleghs in it for sure. It’s just as good. So I think it deserves a little more discussion or to make sure people know about it.

Feel free to discuss this album or any other recs you would have for fans of Blood Incantation that aren’t Blood Incantation

Didn’t expect to use so many box legendaries and starters but it just kinda happened lol

Anyone have their favorite but then after that it’s impossible to rank the other classics?

For me Colony stands above the rest of their albums. It’s hard to make a better album than this where everything just comes together perfectly. Melodic, brutal, futuristic, catchy, creativity just oozing everywhere. Definitely a top ten metal album for me.

The problem is then, Jester Race/Whoracle/Clayman are all so good like 9.5/10 but imo they are a slight tier below each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Makes it impossible to rank these three they just keep rotating depending on my mood. One day I’ll say Jester Race is the best and the next Clayman the next Whoracle.

Doesn’t matter what genre feel free to surprise me but atmo black, melo black, melo death, prog are always good.

Going through a bit of a tough mental state right now and just want to feel as much as possible with music

My Rhodesian Ridgeback girl is about to turn 11 months and despite being a fire breathing dragon from hell as a puppy she is finally making huge strides with age and a little pro training we did. I am so proud of her side note! She’s becoming a good dog dare I say

That said it’s not so much that the puppy phase was horrible between the intense biting throughout and the traumatizing couple of vet visits because she ate something on top of the typical puppy chaos, but I don’t even intend on getting another adult dog later. As my first adult dog she has been quite expensive between sitters vet bills food bills boarding stays while away etc. all really adds up. That and I don’t think my job will forever be as flexible as it is right now with hybrid. And truth be told by the time I’m in my late 30s/40s no matter how deeply I love this dog and dogs in general it’ll be nice to be able to go to work and travel more without worry about one.

And it’s really not because she was a more difficult puppy. I know it’s not always recommended but I’m glad I went with my dream breed instead of an easier first timer breed because I likely wouldn’t have wanted to do it again if I got a Labrador or something. And of course I am hoping she has a long and incredible life with me which I feel is really just getting started. Even if I don’t get another dog I can say I did have the best dog and that’s pretty cool. I gotta say I look back at the posts here and man it really does get much better but I’m glad I won’t be doing this again lol

Edit: since a few people didn’t quite get the gist of the post. I don’t regret getting a dog, I love my dog, she’s a great dog, more difficult than most sure and man did she test me as a pup but getting a lot better. If I got an easy breed I probably would’ve regretted it because I still wouldn’t have wanted to get another and passed up my dream dog. I more so realized that I don’t want the financial obligation and stress of taking care of a dependent for the rest of my life. I’m more than happy to take care of this one for the rest of hers, in fact it’s a great honor
