Sony HVR-FX1 w/ Century 0VS-FE3X-HDS fisheye and MRC-1

Hi all, this is my new setup for filming action sports! a while ago i made a post about a Sony HVR-Z7 that i managed to get this fisheye to work with (albeit with some vig in the shot) which i bought with a busted tape deck

i already had the mrc-1 so i went and got that, fast forward to now i got this fx1 for £73 shipped with a busted deck, mrc-1 to the rescue again lol!

this is one of two models this lens was specifically designed for and with it being a good bit lighter than the Z7 i’m super stoked on it, plus i get the 3CCD goodness lol

sorry again for huge essays, last pic is a screen grab from some test footage x

Sony HVR-7Z w/ Century 0.3x Ultra fisheye action shot test

Hi all, i’ve spent the last month or so obsessing over getting my Century fisheye mounted nicely on the Z7, an ultra wide fisheye was never developed for this lens system with the widest being officially made was 0.45x, i’ve tried is and it’s not wide enough

this here is the best i can get in terms of minimising vignette, im happy with it overall and still gives me a huge angle of view with nice barrel distortion

Anyways, here’s the first action footage filmed with this setup, let me know your thoughts on the vig!

Cheers in advance x

Century Ultra fisheye on my Z7!

Hi all, recently got this Z7 for cheap as it had a broken tape deck, i already had an MRC-1 so i made it make sense 🫣

i managed to find an off the shelf Century fisheye designed for the Z7/S270 camera and was amazed at my luck, unfortunately its only around 0.4x/0.45x and lacked that heavily distorted fisheye i love on my VX2000

then i found this Century Ultra fisheye with the 0.3x wide angle, im not aware of a super wide fisheye in production for this camera so i bought a used Century Tele converter for £8 to make an adapter ring

had to thin it down, recut all the bayonet lugs and then drill/tap the backplate of the century fisheye to firmly attach it to the custom adapter ring

it does have more vig than i’d like but i’m planning to film 1080i and crop it out a lil bit, all in all this was a major ball ache but im happy with it!

i can remove two screws and return the HDV fit Century fisheye back to stock also!

sorry for the essay haha, cheers x

Sony FDR-AX33 lower cabinet issue and fix

Hi all, i recently bought this AX-33 on ebay at a good price due to the damage on the bottom plate as seen in the pics

i’ve seen online now that it’s a common issue with tripod screws pinching the plastic causing it to warp
and crack, then found a forum post with a guy who’s done a 3D model as Sony downright refused to make this a repair part

had it printed and fits lovely! far as im aware this is also an issue on the FDR AX-43 and AX-53

5 second interval shooting on DCR-PC1

hi all, i recently acquired a DCR-PC1 and DCR-PC3 and both have this switch START/STOP/5 SEC

in the video you see me recording in START mode and then switching to 5 SEC mode in which it records in 5 second segments

does anyone know the original purpose or use for this feature as i’ve not seen it before? cool feature but no idea why you’d select it haha

cheers in advance x

Hi all, HVR bayonet fitting query here! Century Optics .3x fisheye adapter

Hi all, i recently purchased this Century Fisheye adapter in the hopes of it fitting onto my HVR-Z7 and unfortunately it does not! it’s a bayonet fitting for the HVR series camcorders but mainly for the HVR-Z1/HVR-FX1

so question is does anyone know of a HDV to VX2000 bayonet adapter so i can mount this bad boy on my VX2000?

even if i got it to fit the Z7 it’s the incorrect lens type and won’t focus at any extent of the zoom

cheers in advance!

Sony FDR AX-33 footage

Hi all, i recently purchased a Sony FDR AX-33 for filming my jewellery work! i’ve been down the rabbit hole of trinocular video cameras for microscopes and couldn’t get it quite right

fast forward to now i’ve made a bracket to hold this camera pointed at the focal spot of my microscope and chose this camera for its 4K footage (to crop in) and that BOSS stabilisation

the microscope head moves around while zooming and adjusting focus on the microscope and that stabilisation does a lovely job of smoothing it all out

here i am showing off some engraved letters on copper plate for practice purposes

filmed in 1080p 🫡

picked up this HVR-Z7 for cheap with a broken tape deck, MRC-1 to the rescue!

absolutely loving this new cam! i already had the recording unit and knew it was originally designed for the HVR-Z7 and S270 so when i saw this unit come up for sale with a broken tape deck i jumped on it!

£200 all in and seller threw in a 970 on top, it is very heavy for lugging around but the image out of it and being able to record seamlessly and import footage in seconds is amazing!

playback also works in this even though the tape deck is defective, only downside in my eyes is no on board microphone so an XLR mic is needed for any audio!

edit: S270 not Z270

HELP WITH J FUSE

Hi all, i’m looking to find this relay or the replacement and i’m having a heard time finding anything!

It’s the J relay from my 1994 volvo 940 and part numbers for these seem to be all over the place! this one is

0 332 014 151

does it matter if the part number doesn’t match exactly if the diagram on the relay matches exactly?

UK based but i’ve tried Partsforvolvos and IPD with no success!

cheers x

latest ring i’ve made! 9 carat with green agate

really loving smithing up rings! started working with wax and casting and now learning smithing skills :)
