I painted this skate deck for a charity auction with HOME skateshop and Lou City FC

This was hand painted in oils and took about 40 hours to complete to best represent Louisville skate culture and the unique space that is Dave Armstrong Extreme Park.

The charity auction will be live online to raise funds for Louisville City FC Academy August 24th, or you can see it in person and bid at the stadium for the Keep Louisville Weird night August 29th when they play Detroit!

We've made the big time with the Can Opener shirts.

Trying not to let such unfathomable fame go to my head

Art Supplies by (Me) John Embry at Muse & Myth Louisville, KY

I made this for my coworker, Tate. I went to the local supply house and got a fresh tube of oil paint with a label that could be peeled off. His mom is an artist as well, so I made a custom label and did the ornamental "T" with his mom's signature below inspired by branding like "Michael Harding" Oils. His favorite pencil is a blackwing and his mom's favorite brush is a fan. I set up some lighting on a neutral backdrop to get all my reference photos. Stoked on it!

PSA: The only places you can get my Can Opener shirt are the Frazier Museum downtown and REI (in very limited quantities). Don't trust random scam links, y'all.

I will eventually restock my website to buy direct, but didn't want to actively compete with the Frazier primarily, as they are all rad people and a non profit organization. REI got a very limited run as well for their local section and have very few remaining.

Deep Sea Horror by (me) John Embry at Muse & Myth Louisville, KY

Sketch included to show my work! No AI was used in this process. Just photo reference and drawing.

Fun fact, gas/fuel dive lamps were a thing and had their own air supply. I had no idea til doing the research for this project and included the air supply line to ground it in a little more realism.

Ares: sketch to finished by (Me) John Embry at Muse & Myth Louisville, KY

Like math class, I'm sharing this way to show my work since unabashed AI is so rampant on the more realistic side of things.

Thanks for looking!

The Frazier History Museum is selling Can Opener shirts with my art. I made this exceptional documentary for them.

Thanks to everyone who suggested connecting to the Frazier! I'm stoked my illustration was so well received that I can help our local history museum and 503c nonprofit in some small way.

I spent way too long there being a weirdo. lol
