The speed of a message and the speed of my response are not the same thing
I started noticing that some messages don't just inform me. They change my pace.
Not necessarily because they are false, but because they arrive with urgency already built in. They ask me to react, share, or reply before I have had time to understand what I am looking at.
The speed of a message and the speed of my response are not the same thing.
They often feel like they are. But they are not.
Lately, when something makes me want to react immediately, I try to check three things first: source, date, context.
And when I don't have the time or energy to check, I try not to pass it on immediately.
That small pause has helped me notice how often my attention is being pulled into someone else's pace.
