Browser-based screen recorder

Hey everyone,

I’ve been building Screenio, a simple browser-based screen recorder focused on privacy.

You can record your screen, microphone, and webcam directly in the browser — no installation, no account, and no uploading your recordings anywhere. Everything stays on your device.

The idea is basically: Record. Download. Done.

I’d really appreciate any feedback, especially on what feels useful, confusing, or missing.

I built a private browser-based screen recorder

Hi everyone, I recently built Screenio — a simple screen recorder that runs directly in your browser.

It can record your screen, microphone, and webcam, and everything is processed locally on your device, so recordings are not uploaded to a server.

You can try it here: https://screenio.net/

Connecting to public WIFI on Fedora issue

Hi everyone,

I recently ran into an issue on Fedora where the captive portal would not open when connecting to public Wi-Fi. Instead of showing the login page, the connection would simply fail.

After some troubleshooting, I found a solution and wrote a short article explaining what causes the problem and how to fix it.

You can read it here:

Hopefully, it helps anyone experiencing the same issue.

Virtual Keyboard being enabled after every reboot

How do I stop the virtual keyboard from being enabled after every reboot. It's a nice feature, but I do not use it, and it causes me to type characters that I do not want. I disable it periodically, but after every reboot / system update it is enabled again. HOw do I stop this permanently? Also is this a bug, or is this meant to be this way?

Fury Tanto T4 Gaming mouse on linux

Hi, I just bought this mouse and wanted to configure it on Linux. I tried though Piper, but unfortunately the mouse was not detected. I had to configure it through a Windows VM, but I was hoping that perhaps there would be some native linux app that I could use for that. Has anyone used this mouse, and did you manage to use linux software for the config?

[BUG] Gwenview Version 25.12.3 on Fedora 44 KDE

When I open any picture there is a sudden memory and cpu spike which crashes the app. Just opening Gwenview by itself does not cause this.

I have tried with multiple pictures. and multiple picture formats, all cause the same issue. I have removed and reinstalled the app also.

I know that PLM is a fork of SDDM, so it makes sense that this bug may have been carried over. However, I’m posting here because I believe this should now be handled/fixed by KDE.

The bug is as follows: if no user has logged in yet, the display never turns off, and the computer never goes to sleep.

Steps to reproduce:

Restart or start the computer.

Do not log in.

Wait and observe that the display remains on and the computer does not enter sleep mode.

I’m not sure where or how to properly report this bug to KDE, so I’m posting here in the hope that it helps raise awareness.

After upgrading to Fedora 44 and switching to the Plasma Login manager via sudo systemctl disable sddm && sudo systemctl enable plasmalogin I now have a second "Plasma Setup" user showing on the login screen. How do I disable that?

Basically the title.

I know it's possible to upgrade via the terminal, but why the difference in terminal vs GUI?
