Any success stories from gifting Making a Millionaire to somebody?
A family member of mine is bad with money. Can never get ahead, works for himself, doesn't particularly listen to my advice. Is Making a Millionaire a good start or is Ramsey the way?
Edit: I meant the book Millionaire Mission
Since FIRE folk' are already great savers, is the "forced savings" structure of a mortgage sub-optimal from a financial perspective?
I've been thinking about this since there have been a few buy vs. rent posts recently. Posting this for discussion and trying to avoid recency bias coming out of the post-Covid hyper-inflationary real estate environment we've just come out of. Has home ownership gotten you closer to FIRE? What about the renters out there? Has your mobility and lower overhead accelerated your journey?
Let's talk about Hyper Accumulation.
I understand it as once you are investing 25% of your salary to retirement accounts and have an understanding of different tax bucket strategies, you are free to move on to step 8.
I am currently investing 25%+ for retirement, and rent a house and drive an old car. This is where I can do anything I want with my money now, right? Buy a car outside of 20/3/8? Think about real estate? Load up the brokerage?
What's everyone paying for Xfinity/Wifi these days?
Just spent an hour on the phone with Xfinity getting my rate lowered after promotional pricing ended. No shot I'm willing to pay $71 a month for 300mbps internet. They got it down to $56.
Just got this email about Auto Pay interest rate reduction: Great news for A LOT of borrowers. Starting July 1, 2026. Apply by September 30, 2026.
Thank you for staying current on your federal student loans through auto pay! Starting July 1, 2026, your interest rate reduction will go from 0.25% to 1%.
This additional interest rate reduction is a temporary benefit available through June 30, 2028, as long as you remain enrolled in auto pay and continue repayment on your federal student loans.
This additional interest rate reduction on your eligible federal student loans means you'll accrue less interest and pay off your loans more quickly.
After June 30, 2028, as long as you remain enrolled in auto pay, your interest rate discount will automatically return to 0.25%.
REMEMBER: This benefit is automatic--you do not need to contact your loan servicer to receive it.
Edit: I’m on standard repayment so this is advantageous. Those on SAVE should wait until being forced to get off that plan
Spoiler: Immortality
Richard Warren's immortality got passed down to Ruth when he died.
She survived Tom's poison attempt. Her cancer went into remission. She's running up stairs youthfully. She took a bullet and likely survived.
Not my theory, saw a video online about it.
Any experience with AAMCO Transmission in North Logan?
Booked a transmission fluid service with them but didn’t realize it’s a chain. I’ve got a European car so it’s gotta be done right.
When’s the owl rooftop opening?

Cache Bar Karaoke MC scandal
Looks like we have to go back to pen and paper, folks.
I’ve heard from some Cache Bar patrons that people will get to Cache Karaoke as early as they can and leak the sign-up QR code to their friend circle so they can join the queue without even being there.
Even worse, the karaoke MC will move people up on the list for people he likes. I got there at 8:00 p.m., and by the time I left at midnight, there were still 20 songs ahead of me. It’s frustrating when all I want to do is sing ONE song while other people are doing multiple and getting bumped up the list. Rant over
USE BOTH LANES ENTIRELY BEFORE ZIPPER MERGING
Holy hell what is with you people? How can this many Americans not know how to zipper merge! Main Street southbound is diabolical during rush hour because twats are clogging the right lane while the left is empty for A MILE.
If you’re ever wondering how stupid some people can be, just think of your average person. HALF of the entire population is dumber than that. I tried to stay decent during this rant but there is certainly some more insulting thoughts I’m keeping to myself. Fuck them
Have any young adults moved to Salt Lake from Logan and regretted it?
Background: 27M feeling like I should be in the busy city for career growth and dating. That's mainly it. I love Logan and know there are drawbacks to Salt Lake. Non LDS
On Tuesday, Apple agreed to pay $250 million to settle a class-action lawsuit that accused the company of misleading customers about the AI features that would be available on iPhones. Now, you may be entitled to enough compensation to cover one Uber Eats burrito.
Who’s eligible: People who bought the iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model in the US between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. That shakes out to 37 million eligible devices. If you bought one of them:
- You’ll receive a letter or an email telling you how to file a claim.
- Expect $25 to $95 per phone (or possibly less, depending in part on how many people file claims).
Back in 2024, Apple promised certain Apple Intelligence features—including an AI-infused version of Siri that was promoted in a commercial starring actor Bella Ramsey—but failed to deliver on them when the iPhone 16 launched that year. Apple didn’t have to admit to wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
They make you play games by “clipping” coupons when they could just have that be normally applied to your account.
They only have 1 lane open and encourage self checkout which ALWAYS thinks I’m stealing, needing a clerk to help me with my damn transaction.
They’re understaffed, with nobody on the floor if I have any questions.
Overall the prices suck. Very expensive grocery store pound for pound on a lot of items.
Their reward program creates an illusion of a deal.
I will give them credit that their produce options and deli counter is solid.
