I sew bags from Polish communist era tablecloths that I find in thrift stores

I absolutely love the aesthetic of this period in Poland. There are so many floral motifs, and everything has a total vintage vibe. The goal was to make the bags look like they were taken straight off a Slavic grandma’s armchair, and I think I achieved exactly that.

A huge plus is that these bags are completely unique - nobody else will have the same one, because they are literally made out of tablecloths.

I usually buy these tablecloths for literally a few PLN (maximum ~2€/$) in second hand stores (most of them are from Vinted, but I think this app is popular in several countries in Europe only). Textile items from this period in Poland aren't worth much, but that's a win for me actually - the bag from the first photo is 90% cotton, the second one is 100% linen.

I'm completely self-taught, but sewing is a lot of fun for me. I hope you like it ❤️ And sorry for the model, that's a cardboard life-size Polish strongman we got for marriage anniversary, I don't have any other idea how to show off my bags.
