Craig did say that they named Oskar after the expressionist artist Oskar Kokoschka (same name just add a c). Was he anything like Oskar Kokoshka? Probably not. Oskar Kokosh. would not be much of an artist. Otherwise he wouldn’t be freeloading off Susie and illiterate. Eh he he he he.

Let’s say Arnold played Ted Lasso and showed ppl the ‘Believe’ sign. Would they touch it? & what would happen next? My thoughts:

Stoop Kid- he wouldn’t touch it. & he would crumple it up. But eventually leave the stoop & do what he did to Harold.

Gerald- he would think it’s kinda silly. But would touch it in private. Like Roy Kent.

Oskar- he would touch it. Just to prove to ppl wrong. Not b/c he really believed lol. He would revert back to his old ways soon enough.

Eugene- he would try to touch it, but slip on a banana peel before he could.

Dino Spumoni and Coach Wittenberg- they would touch it in an inebriated state.

Chocolate Boy- he would be too short to touch it. But would try to before turning into radish boy.

Helga- she wouldn’t touch it at first. She would be like ‘whatever football head.’ But then in secret she would take it, crumple it up and put it back together in her shrine.

Who doesn’t like Ted Lasso, right? It’s super popular. But in particular, HA is just as much a show about kindness. Maybe that’s expected out of a kids show, but HA is a lot about the power of kindness. I mean, it’s all about Arnold being a nine-year old that gets ppl to believe.

Ted is who Arnold tried to get Coach Wittenberg to be.

Rebecca is who Miriam and Susie would wanna be if they left their husbands. I mean the beeper queen showed Miriam this way. & they are both blonde like her lol. But Bob is way more like Rupert than Oskar lol.

Helga and Phoebe have a close friendship like Rebecca and Keely have.

I wonder if Craig or anyone else that worked on the show grew up with a mean ice cream truck driver. Craig never mentioned any inspiration behind the character, that I know of.

Craig said the just the voice of Oskar was based on Gabor Csupo. & Gabor is nothing like Oskar otherwise. But, The Simpsons character who was also voiced like that? Dr. Nick. A quack doctor and a freeloading bum based on that guy? Not the brightest characters. 🤔

One of the new BCycle stations is on the edge of town across from 5 Points on Upper State. It’s right across from 5 Points but would be so much better, and safer, if it were IN 5 Points. BCycle even said they want to put stations next to every grocery store. So put one in front of Smart & Final. They also said to contact property mgrs. So that means the ppl in charge of 5 Points.

There’s gotta be a way to swap out the timer and quarter etc with inning, count, pitch clock etc. Using the RSN template makes SNB feel lesser than the NBA.

First of all, I don’t think the new baseball on NBC sucks. Jason Benetti is a fine announcer. Bob Costas, the man the myth the legend, is part of the coverage. Ahmed Fareed is like Costas 2.0. There is an appropriate anthem by the Zac Brown Band. It just irks me how they put less into MLB than the other two Sunday night sports. Baseball is worthy of NFL treatment, but I suppose the NBA is a fairer comparison. In fairness, it’s the NBA playoffs right now and early season baseball, but:

- Theme music: A small thing, but…..the new NBC theme is fine. But it’s not the ‘80s game of the week one that they could resurrect and modernize like they have done with Roundball Rock.

- The scorebug and other graphics: The ones for the NBA are distinct from NBC RSNs and more like the NFL and college football. The ones for baseball don’t look any different than the ones on NBC RSNs.

- The pregame show: Its not Inside the NBA, nothing ever will be, but NBA Showtime/Basketball Night in America is legit. I guess you can’t call it Baseball Night in America b/c Fox has that name, but whatever it’s called, there’s hardly any baseball pregame show. It’s not much more than Costas or Fareed and whoever is the Inside the Pitch guy talking for a little while.

- The local analysts: The NBA has fewer regular season games than baseball, but just as much reliance on local announcers. NBC may claim to be paying respect to the fans by using the local analysts from each team format, but when its on the same network as the NBA and the NBA has its own deep national roster, it just sends a message as to which sport gets more priority. The problem is not so much the use of local analysts on baseball, but how much more NBC depends on them than their own guys. If the local guys were the Inside the Pitch guys instead, it would be more appropriate. Instead NBC expects different guys every week to play the role Tony Kubek and Joe Garagiola once played. CC Sabathia would be the perfect guy to be the baseball version of Reggie Miller. Put him with Benetti, just them two, in the booth, on Sunday nights. Then the B team would be Matt Vasgersian, Dexter Fowler and Adam Ottavino.

- Lack of consistent network analyst identity: Joey Votto and his odd absence from coverage thus far illustrates this point as much as the rotating door of local guys. All of the networks were after Votto, NBC got him, but he has not shown up at all yet. Not even for the opening day doubleheader. The announcement of Votto, Anthony Rizzo and Clayton Kershaw being hired made it seem like they would be NBC’s baseball version of VC, TMac and Melo. Rizzo has been there, but Votto and Kershaw seem like wasted hires. Kershaw was only there for opening day because he had a ring to pick up, and is not supposed to be back until August. For having those guys together for just for a week in the postseason, it doesn’t show much commitment. The most consistent network analyst face is CC Sabathia, mostly because of the podcast NBC gave him, but he’s only an occasional game contributor.

I work at UCSB and have a good group of friends I go on walks with at lunch. They are mostly 50s-60s. There are a lot of younger 20ish people I encounter, especially students. But less closer to my, age (almost 40). Any staff out there around late 30s early 40s?

Helga would watch Jeanine and Gregory flirt and wish that were her and Arnold.

Ms. Schementi would figure it out from day 1, how much Helga likes Arnold. Barbara would recall when they were in Kindergarten and attest to that.

Arnold and Gerald might be in the garden goofball club.

Rhonda would be in Janine’s fashion club. But she would think Janine doesn’t know that much about fashion.

Mr. Johnson would catch Curly up to no good a few times and stop him.

The cafeteria ppl wouldn’t put up with Chocolate Boy looking for chocolate.

Ava would be a lot different than Principal Wartz.

No effect on Phoebe, Stinky, Rhonda, Eugene, most of the other crew.

Janine and/or Jacob would try and get Harold and Torvald help.
