How do I get back to Apple Pay authentication if I accidentally put phone to sleep instead of clicking confirm button?

This fumblefingers thing happens to me too often and in the moment I can never figure out how to fix it. I use Apple Pay on my phone all the time, but sometimes when I’m at the auth screen I’ll accidentally make the screen go to sleep instead of the double tap to pay. And when I wake the phone back up, the auth screen is gone and the cashier is looking at me with that patient “You’re an idiot, aren’t you?” look. And I end up having to dig out a card and stagger off with the purchases.

So - if you screw up the first attempt to pay, how do you get back to the auth screen so you can try again?

Bosch dishwasher suddenly stopped working on 'Auto' cycle, 'Normal' works fine

We've only ever used Auto for our daily dishes, but suddenly last week the tablets weren't dissolving and the dishes were cold to the touch after a cycle - and not clean. Had a repair man come out who tested spray volume and temp and it was all OK, and he suggested just using the Normal setting since that works. But why would Normal work just fine, but Auto not work at all?

Apple News ads have become insane

But I can't find any recent threads here about the issue? Since I updated my iPhone and have moved from iOS 16 to 26, I'm just flabbergasted by the ad-every-paragraph thing, injected into every article. I thought I had Google ads blocked successfully (because most of them seem to be Google ads), but it's just made the app and its contents basically unusable - it used to be a nice way to scan the days news, but no longer.

Amazon foil-lined paper bags?

Amazon sends out food deliveries in these foil-lined paper bags, and they are stamped as recyclable. Are they? I thought foil was an instant fail?
