Say goodbye to facial hair development Dutasteride
I started Dutasteride super early at just 17 years old due to having really aggressive diffuse thinning. I managed to slow it down and my hair is just thick enough to go out in public.
Im 19M, and ever since i hopped on Dutasteride my beard and mustache has completely stopped developing. The density is the same, pigment and thickness hasnt changed 1 bit. Ive been on oral minoxidil 5mg for 2 years and it didnt help my facial hair at all. I also tried topical minoxidil on my beard for 6 months and I didnt notice any results so I just dropped it.
Now im stuck with a patchy beard and a thin mustache. For those guys saying facial hair doesnt need dht is just completely changing the facts. Dht is needed for actual development, thickness, density and pigment. Testosterone allows the facial hair to grow and thats it.
For context, my family has strong beard genetics. We are from the middle east and my dad has a super thick and long beard , same as my brother.
All these guys promoting dht blockers post puberty are completely ignoring that facial hair development carries on all the way till ur mid 30s.
Really is a predicament for me unfortunately.
Edit : A lot people can still slowly develop their beard on finasteride because finasteride only reduces serum dht by ~70%, which still leaves some potential for facial hair development. On the other hand, Dutasteride reduces ur serum dht by ~95%, which basically puts a complete stop to beard development. This post is specifically for those on Dutasteride.
