4 Days on Modafinil 50 mg - Stomach Issues

Title: 4 days on Modafinil (50mg). Incredible mood improvement, but now stomach issues. Anyone else?

I started taking modafinil Monday Oct 5th for excessive daytime sleepiness. My doctor prescribed 100mg but agreed I could start with 50mg to see how I tolerate it. ( I don’t take meds outside of my thyroid med )

For some background, I have mild sleep apnea and struggle with pretty severe daytime fatigue. Around 1-5pm, I can become completely exhausted. It affects my mood, patience, motivation, and ability to concentrate.

Day 1 was honestly incredible. I felt almost wired, but in a good way. My appetite practically disappeared, my energy was great, and my mood improved dramatically.
But the biggest surprise wasn’t the energy. It was my personality.

I’m normally very irritable, especially when I’m exhausted. Little things bother me, and sometimes I don’t even have the patience to explain something because it feels like too much effort.

On modafinil, I’d say I’m literally 70-80% nicer. I’m happier, calmer, more patient with my wife, more social, and even enjoy striking up conversations with strangers. My anxiety and negative feelings seem significantly reduced.

It’s honestly been amazing to experience this version of myself.

Now the downside.

I’m on day four, and the initial intensity has gradually decreased. I’m also developing mild but persistent stomach cramps, some digestive discomfort, and extremely dry mouth. My appetite has also started returning.

I’m currently traveling and forgot my sleep apnea mouthpiece, so I realize poor sleep and other factors might be affecting how I feel.

I also notice some of my usual irritability returning around 8–9pm.

I’m concerned about the stomach issues because I already have a history of gastritis. I really don’t want to give up something that’s helped me this much, but I also don’t want to create another health problem.

A few questions for anyone who’s been on modafinil longer:

Did anyone experience this kind of dramatic improvement in mood, patience, or anxiety?

Did stomach cramps or digestive issues eventually disappear, or did they get worse?

Did the positive mood effects last, or was it just an initial honeymoon period?

Does anyone take it only as needed rather than daily?

If you stopped taking it, did your mood simply return to baseline, or did you temporarily feel worse?

I’m speaking with my doctor about all of this, but I’d really appreciate hearing people’s personal experiences.

I genuinely feel like I’ve gotten a glimpse of what life could be like without constant exhaustion and irritability. I just hope there’s a way to maintain those benefits without the stomach problems.

Suggestions for New fiction book reader

Last fiction book I read was probably in high school (44 years old). I’ve only read biographies and non fiction business books and of course, self help. I’m an entrepreneur in digital marketing and currently burnt out.

Going on vacation to Paris and south of France in two weeks and I really need to unplug. My wife and I just got kindles. I’m more of a physical book type of a guy but I’m open. Need the luggage space.

I’m looking for recommendations for easy beach reading but something that keeps my interest for the 20 hr flight back and forth.

Huge fan of stand up comedy (Bill Hicks, Carlin, Burr, Tony Hinchcliffe, Louie CK, Sebastian, Seinfeld).

Would love to read a comedy book or two. I’m open to suggestions from you fine folks. Thanks.

Here’s my situation. I’ve been doing lead gen in auto glass for a few companies but I’m itching to change things up. I’m learning how to run proper Meta ads and bring it to a higher niche industry and be more strategic. I fell into auto glass in 2010 and have been stuck since. Plus I can’t even grow that business anymore for my client.

Now roofing and construction is a shiny new toy. If I could generate 1/50th of what I’m doing for my client here in SoCal (bringing 10-25 jobs a DAY, 7 days a week for 12 years), I’d be a billionaire. That’s not really possible in roofing (or might it..?!). The strategy would be different because now I’d be running my own ads.

Here are my questions to you the roofing biz owner:

- do you think it’d be better for me to charge a roofer say $250 for a set and verified APPOINTMENT (not lead)?

- Do you think Rev share would be better?

- how do I verify the numbers on a Rev share? I feel that would be very intrusive

- is Southern California a bad place since we rarely (3-10x a year) we get any rain at all?

Any advice to spare? My goal is to capitalize my time so I don’t end up keep climbing the wrong ladder (no pun).

Thank you.
